Well,

I got the offer again. That was pretty quick after the last one in Dec. Again, there are only 4 memberships I can fill. I am still working my way through the line that formed from the offer back in June. I have sent email or PMs to the next 4 in line. But I had to go about 12 deep in the line to fill the 4 spots in Dec. The economy is taking a toll. Anyway, it's possible of the 4 at the head of the line, one or two may not be able to take advantage. So if you're in that line from June, you may yet be hearing from me.

And as usual, I call on other Life Members that get this offer, to help others get a Life Membership.

wow ! I whish I could-

this year I am a bit tight and already signed in, but next year I'd be glad !!!

very kind of you to offer this opportunity !!!

Well, one of the 1st 4 had already gotten a Life Membership. He was good enough to let me know right away, and I'm already working my way down the list. I guess watch for PMs or email.

This is very nice of you to do. I would like to be on the list, if possible. Thanks!

Scratch that...I just found a life member to call it in. Brand new NRA Lifer here.

tuckerdog1...

Five threads like this since last June and I think I'm only on the list from the December thread.:banghead:
Keep my PM handy because I'm in for certain the day my number comes up.

Why don't other life members here on THR jump in and do this like tuckerdog1??

If I'm not on the list already, please put me on the list.

I'm definately in if my name comes up.

Ditto, I think I'm on the june list, but if not, put me on, please, for the future.

Not trying to be a prick here - but I've asked this question before and never got an answer.

If peoples primary intention was to support the NRA - why would they want to make a one time discounted payment for a life membership? That would mean you're providing less of what the NRA really needs (funding) and in return getting a life membership. Wouldn't somebody paying their yearly full dues for the next few years be of more support than a discounted life member?

Not necessarily. By providing the money now, instead over time, the NRA gets the use of it immediately--there's a time value for money, and money now is more valuable than money later.

The NRA also gets the benefit of inflating its membership, so it can claim to represent a greater number of people. This counts in lobbying: the more people you claim to represent, the more voters you bring to the table as a bargaining chip.

Additionally, this brings in people who may not have otherwise joined. Discounts increase participation. ;)

Finally, as dirt_j00 says, there's nothing preventing people from giving more money later. And we all know the NRA is a master at asking for more money.

The last time I had this offer, I had to contact 15 or 16 people, before 4 were able to take advantage. Now once someone declines, I am not re-contacting them, as if they are still at the top of the list. Not fair. Just gonna keep working my way down ( currently 42 long ).

When I started this new thread, I had 43 people in line. And more have asked to be put in line. So far, 2 have had to decline, 1 has accepted, and 2 have not replied. I am about to send the offer to #6 in line.

If you'd like to know where you are in line, shoot me a PM and I'll let you know. If it's a ways down, don't get too discouraged. If the last round was any indicator, we'll be between a 1/3 & 1/2 of the way through the list before the spots are filled.

I've always asked that other Life Members that get this offer, please post & share. Never see it happen. Maybe you're getting the spots filled with people you know personally. If so, great. But if not, how about you shoot me a PM, and I'll send the next group of contacts that are waiting in line. This does not take a lot of effort, and does someone a huge favor. Plus increases lifetime NRA headcount.

Because even coming up with the discounted life membership was a big stretch. Last go round, I was fortunate and got a friend to get my son a life membership for his 16th Birthday. I would have paid the full price if I had it. Being a member of some 2A org during this misadministration is paramount.

And let's give TuckerDog1 a big thank you for helping our community.

I have to put in my recommendation for working with tuckerdog1, for anyone who is a little skeptical about sending money to someone they haven't met. He is great to work with, offers VERY good communication, and he is quick to get things done.

I got my lifetime membership in the last round and I am very happy I went for it (even with some financial hardship).

Thanks again, tuckerdog1!!!!

One other benefit that was not mentioned. An organization which claims to represent X lifetime members likely has more pull than an organization which represents X pay-per-month members. So, getting people to pony up the cash now for lifetime membership is a benefit to the NRA and the fight for our rights.

NOT to threadjack,

But I am taking names over at SigForum (lounge) as well.

I will limit my enrolment, FIFO

Why only four? When I called they said I could make copies of that sheet and submit that if I needed to do more.

Is this an offer to help? Just kidding:)

The 1st time I did this, I was told the same, and began that way. Later was able to set up the phone in setup, which was much easier for everybody. This last time in December, I tried to set up the phone in again, and was told "No". Also asked at that time if I could make copies of the form, and was told "No". This time I did not call, just figured it would be more "No".

I will call later today, when I get home from work & double check. If I get a "Yes" on the copies, I will happily do more than 4.
