Okay,

I called the NRA. Got kind of a mixed message. Yes, I can make copies. But they don't want it abused (???). So I just asked if there was some limit ( I suggested 50 or 60 ). Was told to keep it to about 20.

This can get confusing, with both real names & usernames. Some contacted via PM, others by email. Who makes deadlines & who misses them. I also have an offer to help out ( Sweden ) and possibly more help from NetJunkie. But between the three of us, we "might" be able to cover everybody that want to get in. Just not real sure how to do that without stepping on each other's toes.

To start, I have a list of everybody that has asked to get in ( going back to June ). I have 2 yes & still 2 no replies. I will contact the next 16 people. I'll send the list to Sweden. I don't know how many spots he might have, But I'll ask him to take however many he can after the last one I contact. If after a reasonable time ( I think 72 hours ) I haven't received a reply, I'll check with Sweden about where he left off on the list, and continuue from that point.

I received the offer to upgrade to Benefactor (already did it via telephone) with the option of signing up 4 additional "family members". I'll just consider any fellow THR gun-nuts to be part of my "extended gun family". After all, the form doesn't ask for relationship.

So, here's the deal. Through 03/15/09 I'll accept PMs from THR members in order to help the other guys sign up as many new members as possible. Here's what I need...

If you are serious about helping out the cause send me a PM and I'll respond with my mailing address. I will expect everyone to follow up by sending a check or money order to me in the amount of $300.00 made payable to "NRA". If you and the wife/husband sign up, please send two checks...one for each of you. The lady I spoke with at NRA said that helps to match payments with members on the form. If your neighbor or buddy at work is willing, send me their info and check, too, and we'll get them signed up. You will need to include a note with your check with ALL of the following information for each person wishing to sign up:

Full Name (as you want it reflected in your membership)
Mailing Address
Phone number (again...as listed in your membership record)
Email Address (as you want it listed in your membership record)
Magazine choice: Am Rifleman, Am Hunter, America's 1st Freedom

If you don't choose, I'm going to default to 1st Freedom.

Please be prompt about this. The offer ends 03/31/09 so make sure you've sent everything I need to do this by 03/15/09 so I can get it in the mail to the NRA before the deadline. This is important: DON'T DRAG YOUR FEET if you want to do this. I don't mind helping but, seriously, only if you're really committed.

This is pretty simple...commit to joining, send me a PM, I'll send you an address, you send me the information required (listed above), I'll send it all to the NRA.

We can sign up lots of people and have more clout where it counts in Washington.

Now Common guys this is a great opportunity. Grant it you could walk out your door tommorrow and and a bolder fall on your head but if your young this is a smoking deal. I am going to be 34 in a couple weeks wish I had this when I was 18 and today its still a smoking deal what these guys are offering us being its less than 1/3 of regular cost. Support the NRA let not forget our state ran organizations as well. I am sure the economy is hurting tons of people but you may never get this opportunity in the future. :) :D
 
Got this email from a guy that calls himself Sweden from sig forum. I have never visited Sig Forum so I am not sure what he is doing but it reads kind of fishy to me. What is the verdict? Did you send this to me sweden? I know we have Sweden involved here but I wanted to make sure that some guy reading this isnt trying to take advantage.

Not sure about the Sweden Guy I saw him post here earlier in this thread. I know Bailey request payment be made direct to the NRA Not himself and tucker has feedback as well from last go around. I say these are your guys nothing against Sweden but these Bailey and tucker seem to be the real deal. I called the NRA did not disclose whom I was just made a general inquiry and these are real offers by the NRA for Life Members to thier family or extended family.

I'm not holding any grudges gents!

Tucker sent me his list as he will not be able to fill all the orders. Last time I asked the NRA they wanted one payment. I've done this a few times, just going on past experience. I don't have much history over here which is why I didn't originally post on THR. I know one of the owners of SF and he will vouch for me, hence my hosting over there. Either way, Tucker asked for help with some of those beyond his ability. I understand the reluctance as I'm not very well known over here, no hard feeling I'm just trying to help. If your not interested please still let me know.

Let me confirm, I sent my list to Sweden. He sent me a PM offering to help get more than I can handle on board.

I do not know him, but appreciated the offer. It sounds like he may want to do things differently as far a payment goes. For me, I want separate checks from each individual made out to the NRA. Never to me.

Tuckerdog1, I got my life membership through you on the first go around. I haven't gotten anything from NRA about me signing someone up. I have the names of several people that want it, and if I get THE LETTER, I'll do my part.

Great response so far. I can see where this can get out of hand pretty quick! But, hey. I'm mostly retired so I need something to do.

I also posted this offer to help on our little local community forum and I've had takers there, too.

It's great. I'm hopeful guys on other gun boards are doing this, too. Great idea, tuckerdog1.

Yeah...it's pretty typical they offer some sort of upgrade or discounted membership program. That's how I wound up upgrading to Benefactor over the years.

My youngest son wanted a membership for his 16th birthday so I bought his Jr Life membership about 7 years ago for $250! Now that's a bargain. That's something some of you guys/gals might want to consider for your chilluns'.
 
I really, really want to do the "life membership" thing......but as a college student have a limited income, and just spent my last $300 on car repair :(

How often does this offer come 'round?

I'm in. I got on the list on December 12th and my number came up this past Friday. I'm glad this is finally happening, and I want to thank tuckerdog for what he's been doing.
 
As a heads up to some of you, I have contacted Tuckerdog. He has given me some of the names off his list to contact regarding this offer. I will be getting in touch with you through PM's to try and help some of you get a life membership (since Tuckerdog is limited to about 20).

Bad news, guys (or good news, depending on how you look at it)...I've reached the NRA unofficially imposed limit of 20 people. I have enough names for 5 forms and I'm going to have to call it off for now as I don't want NRA to get all sideways with this thing.

Between the response here and my local town forum I hit 20 people in just 2 days.

I'm checking with other life members I know to see if they have a similar offer and, if so, will be willing to help out with this recruitment effort.

Thanks to all for making NRA stronger.

Thanks for once again attempting to hi-jack an NRA thread in order to bad-mouth them, like your posting history shows you have done multiple times before. If you don't care to join, don't join.
