NRA Life Membership $300

I just want to say early, I'm not planning on starting a list this time around. I felt that was the right thing to do last time. But it turned into a huge hassle. Between the time folks 1st said they wanted in, and by the time we could actually offer them a spot, things changed for a lot of them. This resulted in a lot of emails being sent ( and many times getting no reply back ). Having to ask others to wait, while we tried to determine if someone ahead in line was gonna take a spot or not. Even had a few say they'd take the offered spot, only to not follow through or even respond to follow-up emails.

So next time around, I plan on just starting a new thread, and the 1st to say they want to get in, those will be the folks I sign up. It's most likely they will be able to follow through if they're jumping in as the offer is made. So just keep your eyes peeled for a new thread.

I called the NRA this morning & asked about this "gift membership" thing. Was told these were supposed to be treated as if they were a gift from the Life Member that sponsored the applicants. Don't know why, it didn't say anything about that on the application. And it's never been that way in the past. And was told they were not 100% in processnig them that way. So some came across as gifts, while others did not. The bottom line was, it made zero difference in the membership.

Probably some corporate bylaws issue. Life Members can vote on NRA elections, right?
 
The offer is over

I've been getting a lot of requests by PM, and there are other posts requesting to get in on this offer.

The deadline on this offer has passed. But it comes around now & then. I'll start a new thread when I get the offer again. Just keep checking THR.

Yes, Life Members get to vote. The "gift" thing means nothing. Your Life Membership is a full and complete Life Membership.

I'll answer my own question. . . I just got my life membership by calling the NRA's number, hitting 3 for life membership, sitting on hold for 10 minutes, and giving the lady my sponsor's* NRA number. After that, it was just credit card info and an "ok, sir, you're all set".

Received the "gift" letter two days ago and the life membership package today. Many thanks to Fburgtx for the opportunity, I really appreciate it.

SYH, Glad you were able to do that. That's exactly what we did the 1st time around. Quick, easy and cuts out the middleman. And I've tried to set that up the last couple times, and was told "No", it has to be done through the mail now.

I got quite lucky, twice! I was able to call up and get my wife (who wasn't a member at all) her life membership also.

I guess that while gun owners are stocking up on ammo like it's a firesale, the NRA is also stocking up on gun owners.

Guess it's the luck of the draw on who you speak to.
 
Here's an up-date and I will start a separate post with this also.

I called NRA membership today and told them that I heard they were running a Life Membership special until the end of the month.

The responder said yes they were... which one was I interested in... the $ 300.00 one or the $ 500.00 one???

Turns out, the $300.00 deal requires a sponsor as we've been discussing here but you can still buy a Life Membership for $500.00 without a sponsor. This program was supossed to end at the end of March but has been extended to May 17th.

Tuckerdog.. I didn't ask but now I'm wondering if the sponsored membership drive has also been extended. I think I will call tomorrow and ask.

According to my conversation today... all you have to do is call and make a one time payment.... and... ickity, ackidy, ook... It's Yours ! Even at 500. it still half price!
 
@120: you can also vote, which you can already do if you're a consecutive 5 year member.

I also hear there's a bowie knife with a display box with your name engraved in it for you, possible. Can anyone confirm?

Just got off the phone with NRA 7:15pm Eastern Time. They do memberships 'til 9pm.

What you need it this: Have a Life Member call up for you and sign up you as a "Gift"

He/she needs your NRA # (if you are a member already)., address etc. It is not no big deal.!!

If you have a "really good friend" they will buy it as a Gift for you.
(Otherwise you will have to give to your friend your credit card# and pay for it yourself...:)
