NRA lobbying for money or a scam

wow, i hope thats not true

Why not! The organization doing the fund raising not only gets the majority of the monies but they incur ALL of the expense. The other org. such as the NRA, or one of the Sheriffs org, or whatever get a pretty hefty sum with no expense or work.

Plus as I stated we keep Americans working and paying taxes.

Whats there not to like?

Oh it is, especially when it's people calling and selling tickets to things such as the fireman's circus for disabled children and off the wall charities you've never heard of. I'm not picking on firemen, I get more calls from boiler rooms representing police associations. How many different police associations are there? A lot, the owners of the phone banks must just make up names when they get an LE department to sign on in return for a small percentage of the take.

Now, speaking of large, established organizations and not the fly-by-night outfits I mentioned above, here is some info from 2007.

Hey, the restaurant association came up with the search results. 38% overhead. Dang.

Good info above about org's overheads, thanks.

The problem for me isn't so much the pestering, its the lies, and that they say, you have to either pay, or return the DVD.

I know about the laws, and all the opt out options. All told, I still like the NRA, that's why it bothers me, *because* I like them (us). Otherwise I'd just say, forget 'em, and move on.

The NRA is the biggest and strongest lobbying group in Washington that defends our 2nd Amendment right. I don't care how often they contact me for donations I give what I can when I can and tell them so. They are not offended by my refusal and I am not offended by their solicitation methods. I am a life member and will stay that way. As it has been said before, they are the biggest gorilla in the room, or words to that effect. Please guys, get over it.
I agree 100%! If we didn't have the NRA standing up for our 2nd Amendment rights, what do you think the inside of our gun safes would look like? I have no problem with the NRA asking for renewed membership or donations and give as I can. I only wish I could afford to purchase a Life Membership! I never seem to have that much money available at one time....
