I wished it had skyrocketed by 80,000,000.
NRA member and have been for quite a time.

Now wait for Friday. Depending on their stance you could see a lot of people canceling their memberships. I know they're the biggest game in town. But I will not accept any concessions.

The NRA is the largest and strongest advocate for the 2nd Amendment and the rights of gun owners in America.

I also look forward to their press conference on Friday. We must stand together to oppose any infringement on our Constitutional liberties.

I have my renewal form sitting on my desk. I was considering it just for the free gift, a nice NRA range bag, but since I got a nice range bag from my company, I'm waiting til Friday's big announcement before dropping the check in the mail.

I couldn't say whether or not the President will take notice (or care), but the NRA certainly should. If 56,000 suddenly joined due to a frenzied, hightened mass calls for more gun controls, that should tell them that we are ready to fight for our rights and NOT offer any concessions.

It makes no difference what happens this Friday -- joining the NRA is probably the single most important thing we can do as gun owners to help protect our RKBA. Thankfully tens of thousands understand that.

One of the best ways to send a message is to put your money and efforts behind your favorite gun rights advocacy group.

I see a lot of people panic buying guns and ammo, apparently thinking can buy enough to last them the rest of their lives.

Rather than assuming the laws will be passed and making futile efforts to get in under the wire, it would be FAR better to actually do something constructive to fight the laws.
Just curious- how NRA members are there at present?
Less than 5 million.

This news tip was mentioned on O’Reilly’s show this evening by the Fox DC reporters. Biden was doubted as being the proper choice to head up the committee tasked with making prevention proposals. Biden was instrumental in authoring the 1994 AWB; a factor that the reporters believe is sure to alienate Democrats with strong gun rights constituents. Many lost the election after voting in favor of the AWB.

It was suggested that the POTUS is biding his time with Biden in hopes that the furor will settle down in a month. However, the appearance is sure to appease his ravenous anti-gun zealots. Their reasoning is the POTUS does not wish to expend too much capital in a protracted fight. It’s akin to what the POTUS said about the new marijuana law in Washington State, “I’ve got bigger fish to fry”.

I've been a lifer for over 40 years, just split a grand between the NRA and my stare ISRA.
I'm not going down without a fight.
You know I got $250 worth of mags yesterday, If all the idoits (like me) spent their panic buying money on NRA donations image what we could do

I'll be waiting to join as well; will they "punt" and blame mental health alone (inviting all sorts of unforeseen regulation) or will they demand more widespread access to defensive armament of teachers/guardians/private citizens? Their use of similar language as the President in describing the "meaningful 'debate'" doesn't bode well. I won't give the NRA my money just yet--I'll put it where their mouth is.

I've not seen evidence of how forcibly committing the shooter earlier would have avoided anything, since the news of his being committed to an institution was apparently what put him over the edge. However, the presence of guns nearby or in classrooms, on the hips of teachers, can be proven to have given the defenseless the means to defend themselves (by definition, they are no longer defenseless).

The blame does primarily rest with undiagnosed/untreated mental illness. Not being able to CCW is not a cause of the massacres. It might be part of a solution but it's not a cause.

I'm one of those less than 5 million, for the cost of a couple boxes of ammo, gun owners could strengthen our 2 A cause. Don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but it is time to get off the sidelines and get into the game. Do you know who your congress rep is? do you have his email? Find out, write him. Join the NRA. You may not agree with everything they do, but they are the only friend you got in this fight. Evil will flourish when good men do nothing. Best

Just emailed my rep. Steve Southerland. Like you said, we all should be emailing our congressmen.

I've been a member since I got my first gun way back in the last century. I'm signing up the wife & girls tomorrow for associate memberships, and will be sending a donation to ILA as well. I just hope it's not too little too late.

Whatever anyone says about NRA, I have personally watched their lobbyist in IL kick a** and take names protecting our rights and slowly rolling back the restrictions.
