Observed Gunshow Asking Prices 8/12/23

Appreciate the report! Overall it sounds like prices are maybe a little less absurdly stratospheric than they have been (of course with obvious exceptions like the Lithgow… but you can’t expect every seller to be reasonable, it IS a gun show after all!)

I'm super jealous of anyone who lives within driving distance of a Scheels... Supposedly they are building one in Tulsa but that's still almost 2 hours away. And then you have to deal with Tulsa, gross lol.
The one in Dallas isn't so great. When I get email ads, they are invariably not available in Dallas.

Except for the design.
Don't fool yourself.
A few years before the new snake guns started to reappear, I sold all of my Pythons to finance a non-firearms project. Now I own 1 each of the new King Cobra, Python and Anaconda. The Python and King Cobra are (with the exception of the stainless steel) very true in design and feel to the original. The only thing I miss about the original Pythons is that beautiful, deep Colt Blue.
The new Anaconda is (in my experience) head and shoulders above the original in fit and finish, feel, handling and accuracy. (Mine is a 6" and I am coveting a 4".)
They may be a bit on the pricey side, but lay one along side a similar budget gun and you will easily see which one is a quality firearm. It may not be on par with a Korth, but then neither is its price.

At my age, tho, I should quit buying guns. My kids aren't interested in them and they will never get the true value of them if/when they sell 'em. Oh, well. I'm gonna enjoy them while I'm here anyway. :)
I just sold about 200 antique tools on ebay for that same reason. Then I labeled and packed my father's and grandfather's tools and gave them to the son who appreciates tools. He said he'd take care of them. Luckily 3 out of the 5 kids shoot so unless I die of a sudden heart attack, I'll pass my guns along to them before I go. I've already given a few to them and just recently bought a Henry Silver Boy 22LR for the 7 year old grandson.

I go to them mostly to look at older guns. It is a cheap way to pass a half day and sometimes interesting. There were lots of them at our local show back in the spring. Prices kept my money in my pocket even though I found three or four that I would have liked to take home with me. We should have another this fall and if I'm lucky I won't be using a walker to get around. It's usually difficult enough when you are completely mobile. Lots of rude people seem to come out the woodwork at these.

I am at the point to where I am beginning to pass out guns to those I want them to go to. Between kids, grandkids, and their kids I have plenty of takers.

The Fort Worth show is this weekend... I was thinking about going, it's usually a good time, but buddy of mine called with a new pistol... so Imma go shooting, instead. :)

Prices are still quite volatile, and I'm sure reloading components are as well... a good deal here, a bad deal there, etc.
