Gunshow price check 5/14/23

Tons of good stuff from Boomer collection is coming out the wood works! Just be patient
I've heard people saying this for some time. Makes me wonder if we'll have a taste of the "good ol' days" once again. On one hand there will be a flood of old school cool guns that will need to be liquidated by heirs that may not care much at all about the value of the guns. On the other hand the ones doing the liquidating will have access to internet pricing. I'm certainly curious about how it will play out in today's and the future market.

Prices will go down due to FLOODING boomer liquidation. That’s why these guns are so expensive now

Certain types will soften for sure… shotguns and .22s. It’s already started. Milsurps I doubt though… the demographic that likes those trends younger.

OP, I would have been seriously tempted by those Sig P230/232s. That’s a gun which has so far eluded me, I’ve never even seen one irl!

The SKS in like new condition for $600 I would have been sorely tempted, too… only because they’re getting harder to find like that. I’m so glad I jumped on the SKS bandwagon in early Covid when they were still available for $299 (albeit far from LNIB.) Just wish I’d bought a few…. ahh the familiar refrain.

My father had one, as well. It was definitely a bit hefty, especially for a child to tote around.

I only remember using the shotgun barrel. Using the rimfire was so difficult with that atrocious trigger. The rimfire barrel is good for a coup de grace, that's about it.

It's a cool concept, but I'd much prefer a two man team with a dedicated rifle and shotgun for small game hunting.
Yea that's what my FIL and I do. We take 3 dogs he carries a rimfire rifle and I prefer a shotgun

I just worry about heirs who are Anti that will want to "do the responsible thing" in their minds at least by taking things to police "buy back" events

Thanks to the OP for posting; it helps me to have my finger on the pulse of pricing. Gun shows have their downsides, but being aware of pricing is one of the main reasons I attend nowadays.

Didn't know the Savage 24 combo guns had risen so much in value. I have my late grandfather's, and have had a crack at a couple others over the years. Neat guns, if a bit heavy.

Also had a crack at another SKS before pricing rose so much, but I figure I can't wear out one of these things in the time I have left, much less two. I ended up getting ammo instead, which was a good call in hindsight.

Thanks, I was hoping others might find the data points useful, even if its a small sample.

I cant help with the black guns, (though I have some)- tend to glance right over them at the show. Besides, everyone knows what Glocks and ARs go for. Lol.

This particular show is usually pretty fruitful when it comes to old stuff, but I think the proximity to Mothers Day kept the crowd and some of the vendors away.

I carried a P230 for a while and it was thin, accurate, and reliable. Mine even fed HP rounds just fine, though supposedly many did not, thus one of the reasons for the upgrade to the P232. The thing that killed it for me was that it would eject straight into my forehead....
Sold it down the road, but for some reason I still want to try another.

Some observed asking prices at the show today-

2X Astra M400, 9mm Largo, fair condition- $400 ea.
S&W M34 .22, 2", good- $900
S&W M15 2", VG- $900 ( tempting)
3X S&W M10 4" French police trade-ins, fair $600 ea. o_O
Type 14 Nambu, mid-war, VG $1100
6" Python, blue, vintage LNIB- $3500
6" Python, stainless, vintage, VG- $4500
Colt Police Pos. Spl. .38, 4", fair- $400
Dan Wesson M22, 6", half lugged shroud, excellent- $750
Sig P232SL, fair, some rust, cracked grips- $450 (thought about it)
Sig P230, VG, blue- $700
Savage M99, carbine .303, VG- $950
Stevens .410/.22 O/U combo, (crumbling) Tennite stocks, poor- $1000 :scrutiny:
Mossberg .410 bolt action, internal mag, adj. choke, VG- $350
Loewe M91, Arg, Engineers Carbine, chromed, VG- $800
Norinco SKS, claimed unfired, LNIB- $600
Swede M95 long rifle, excellent- $700
Several Mosin Nagant M91 and M44, VG- $450-550

In the end, all we bought was an old ammo pouch, lol. Probably shoulda made an offer on the snubby M15, but that vendor is always a condescending blowhard so.......meh.

I haven't been to a gun show for a decade or more...they have priced themselves out of the market for me, and that's just the admission. Thank you for the information! Your observed prices are astronomical imnho...perhaps one day, Mental Health will strike!:D But, I'm not holding my breath!
