Hit the local show today, didn't buy anything. Very light crowd. Lots of good inventory and selection. Lots of old stuff, Colt and S&W revolvers, milsurps, etc. Lots of ammo, but priced way higher than I was willing to pay for it as Im still sufficiently stocked on most cartridges.

That would be a heck of a buy, Win 73 in 38-55 since they were made only in pistol size calibers. Probably a misprinted 38-40? 44-40?
Good list. I'm sitting on a gold mine.

I haven't been to a gun show since guys were asking $400 for Mosin Nagants that looked like they were used to row a boat, ran over by a tank, used as TP and pulled out of the ocean after 50yrs. Along with the $600 Mossberg 500 with field barrel. I always liked to go to look at stuff but honestly have never found a deal on anything. Walked around with a buddy trying to sell a finnish Nagant with scope in the best condition I had ever seen and guys were offering $100.

Thanks for the info. Makes me happy for what I got and what I paid for it all over the years. The question is, did any of that stuff sell at those prices? For me, gun shows are just what the sign says they are, for the most part- a SHOW. As in, I kill time and look at stuff VS actually buying much, outside of the occasional used holster or a "let's go Brandon" T shirt, or some such.

those prices were insane, IMHO. years ago I used to love going to the show, trading and buying at fair prices. thankfully I need nothing at this point.

I would have been sorely tempted by this one, mainly because it's in mint condition. Maybe if he's at the next show and it's still on the table offer him $650 and see if he'll bite.

I’ve never been to a gun show, after reading about several of them over the years here on THR I think I’m glad to not have gone to one.

Wow. It must get expensive for these guys to pay for table space, food, fuel and hotel (if they’re out of the area), just to schlep guns around hoping someone will bite on something… especially those with 30% to 50% over a reasonable price listed on the tags.

Stay safe.

Oh my! You don't know what you've been missing all these years! In spite of going through aisle after aisle and seeing a lot of overpriced junk (and sometimes some real rare stuff too), occasionally you'll stumble onto something that you've been looking for. Hopefully the show will have a number of new gun dealers there too so you can compare prices and shop around to get your best deal.

Plus you might have several knife vendors there along with ammo dealers with reloading supplies. Last great deal I got was when I came across an ammo dealer who had Wolf Match Target .22s for $3.49/50! I bought all ten bricks that he had (and I was so glad I brought my credit card with me that day)!

"Garcia Bronco .22, Good cond.- $350"

ONLY $350?

I'll hold on mine until it's worth .... one million dollars [my worst Dr. Evil impression]

They've quit listing gun shows down here in deep south Texas.
I have noticed that, too. But, I have to wonder if that's from promoters "economizing" on their exploitation. Now, the number of available venues plummeted over the last few years, too.
Seemed like not that long ago Saxet had a show every four weeks in the San Antonio area.

I know, for me at least, I don't read Shotgun News (or what ever they are calling it now) as often as I once did. And I seldom poke in GunShowTrader much any more, either--which is where the small promoters hawked their shows at the VFW or County Convention center all across Podunk. Although the rise of "jockey lots" cut into the trade of the "small fry" shows, too.

I was sore surprised to se that there will not be a Thanksgiving w/e show at Dallas Market Hall this year. I'm going to miss the Premiere show in Frisco this w/e for heading south for a football game instead. (And I need "stuff"; good rando stuff like 1903 magazines and the like that are best scrounged from the right sort of vendor.)

2 Saturdays ago I went to a show in my town.

There were a couple of tables with decent ammo prices, but most were way over priced. I'm always amazed at the people with the ammo boxes that are falling apart .

Some guns like LCP's were slightly more than ive seen around but the $1000 SKS's are a not much

I was a bit surprised he didn't counter with $650. I guess he thinks someone will pony up 7 soon- though it was close to the end of the last day.....

Yeah I'm a bit surprised too that he didn't come back with $650 especially when it's that late in the day. Usually that's the best time to close out a deal.

Oh, I dunno, its something to do on a Sunday afternoon and sometimes you see cool stuff, even if you cant afford it.
If you're on a mission, you are garaunteed to be disappointed, but its the time you're not actually hunting for something that you score! :D

I might be nuts, but I think Im going to grab that 2206 next time the show comes around. I love my 422, but its starting to get pretty worn out and the 2206 is low mileage and all steel. That same vendor has had that gun for several shows in a row now.

Of course, with my luck, itll be gone next time.

So that S&W 2206 caught your eye, did it? I always liked the quirky design and styling of the gun but I was too heavily vested in Ruger Mk.IIs back then to even consider another .22 platform. Still a bit spendy at $899...

Let us know if it's at the next show and if you can work your magic on getting the price down, and get the gun!

Mint Finn Mosins are like $800++ all day long on GB lol. $100 is a darn insult, frankly. Your friend should keep that rifle and give it a good home and use Sellier and Bellot ammo in it to treat it well. Dad and I traded a complete aftermarket Glock 17 slide assembly with suppressor height sights and threaded barrel for a mint Tula numbers matching Mosin from a guy who simply didn't want it anymore at the last gunshow we were vendors at lol.

Yeah I went to the Tulsa OK gunshow this weekend and boy howdy if I didn't see the highest priced 30-06 I've ever seen... A sealed 200rd case of Hornady 150gr 30-06 was the low, low price of $600!!!!!:cuss::what: I saw other vendors selling beat up falling apart old 30-06 ammo for $80 a box!! Like who in their right, or demented for that matter, mind would pay that much for 30-06? Interestingly enough, I did not see a SINGLE BOX of 270 Winchester ammo for sale, so idk what is up with that. A local Academy in OKC has had a bunch of Privi Partizan 270 Winchester 150gr for $22 a box for almost a month now and it still sits there even after me coming in every day for a solid week and getting the limit of 4 boxes each day. So I may be part of the problem but I love my 270... If you guys could see my two 50cal ammo cans crammed full of 270Win ammo, you might cry lol.:D I also have three 50cal ammo cans crammed full of 30-06 in various flavors, it being mostly 150gr Greek HXP with some 165gr/208gr reloads and Hornady 178gr match ammo. I saw very little powder or primers for sale which is odd as usually guys are still asking $15 a sleeve for primers that are $6.60 at Academy...:cuss::fire:

Deer Season is always a good time to screw over you fellow gun owners with over priced ammo.

My Brother In-Law from in Michigan, asked me to get him some 30-06 if I saw any soft points anywhere. Back in July, I was down in Bentonville, Arkansas and stopped at a Walmart. The ammo case was filled with Remington Green Box 30-06 Soft Points. The kid working the counter said, he'd over ordered and 2 pallets of this stuff finally all came in all at once. He's like if you want more that the limit of 2 boxes, tell me and I'll ring you up here.

I bought 5 boxes @ $20 a box and gave them to my brother in-law.

Wow, I would be astounded to see two pallets worth of 30-06 at my local Walmart... I like how Walmart is barely raising their ammo prices compared to 2019! That stuff was 16ish a box in early 2020. So how is Walmart selling it for $20 and a vender is selling essentially the same thing for $80?? Greed or what?? That shows the markup is through all of the various wholesalers and distributors, NOT the manufacturers... Cause I bet Walmart buys direct from Remington for pennies on the dollar compared to most LGSs who have to deal with wholesalers, who often don't even have anything available themselves... Dad and I have not been able to get ANY factory ammo from a wholesale supplier since we started our FFL in March... We are buying stuff from GB and online retailers at an ok price and marking it up a small percent and selling it for cheaper that other vendors at the gunshows. We have a couple boxes of Fiocchi 150gr FMJ 300blk for $50 and there was a vendor across the aisle from us at the last show that was selling the EXACT SAME THING for $80?!?!
