Some observed asking prices at the show today-

2X Astra M400, 9mm Largo, fair condition- $400 ea.
S&W M34 .22, 2", good- $900
S&W M15 2", VG- $900 ( tempting)
3X S&W M10 4" French police trade-ins, fair $600 ea. o_O
Type 14 Nambu, mid-war, VG $1100
6" Python, blue, vintage LNIB- $3500
6" Python, stainless, vintage, VG- $4500
Colt Police Pos. Spl. .38, 4", fair- $400
Dan Wesson M22, 6", half lugged shroud, excellent- $750
Sig P232SL, fair, some rust, cracked grips- $450 (thought about it)
Sig P230, VG, blue- $700
Savage M99, carbine .303, VG- $950
Stevens .410/.22 O/U combo, (crumbling) Tennite stocks, poor- $1000 :scrutiny:
Mossberg .410 bolt action, internal mag, adj. choke, VG- $350
Loewe M91, Arg, Engineers Carbine, chromed, VG- $800
Norinco SKS, claimed unfired, LNIB- $600
Swede M95 long rifle, excellent- $700
Several Mosin Nagant M91 and M44, VG- $450-550

In the end, all we bought was an old ammo pouch, lol. Probably shoulda made an offer on the snubby M15, but that vendor is always a condescending blowhard so.......meh.

At the very least, that sounds like an interesting gun show. I miss the funky Astras and whatnot.
It usually is a good one. This was the lowest turnout Ive ever seen there- Im attributing it to coinciding with Mothers Day. A few things caught my eye, but nothing I couldn't live without.
There were plenty of generic plastic pistols, Turkish shotguns, and ARs too but I wasn't paying attention to that stuff. :)

Never been to a gun show and probably never will go. I don't understand paying a fee for the privilege to go and and look at over priced stuff. I can do that for free at home via Gunbroker and ArmsList.

I still enjoy going to gun shows. 5 or 10 dollars to get in is not a big deal. Parking is free. I don't buy as much as I used to but when I do I like to handle things first, especially firearms. You have to know prices on things you want & be prepared to haggle.

I miss Mosin Nagants for $89.99 sold right out of a dirty old Soviet storage crate slathered in cosmoline
MOSINS!, man If you want a good laugh go to Guns Int. and look what people are asking. And most you can tell were counter bored or are strike through rematches. Nah. Got plenty of old friends going to the swap and flea markets and get a ftf good deal.

Or muzzle-down in an old whiskey barrel with a bunch of k98’s, Carcanos, SMLE’s and the like…those were the days!
When I was little in the early 1990's there was a store called Rose's in my home town. Kind of a cheap Wal Mart knock off that we had before Walmart. They had rifles muzzle down in a barrel as you described. My uncle went in there and bought a Spanish 7x57 mauser date marked 1917 for $60

I rather pay a little more than deal with jerk dealers! a good sales person can finesse you to paying a little more with good manners & humility

I'm not sure what the hell happened in the past few years to give people permission to ask $1000+ for beat to crap Savage Model 24s, but I need to speak with a supervisor immediately. I'm seeing them priced that way seemingly everywhere. Did a movie come out where a protagonist used one or something?

Production stopped many moons ago. I've noticed they've only shot up in price over the past few years. Occam's Razor suggests that it was COVID, but I'm not sure I believe that.

They're pretty decent guns. Horribly heavy trigger, though.

My FIL used to have one. I think someone else is making something by the same design now. People clamor for the old version when a new one comes out.

Yup, even in mint condition with wood stocks I wouldn't go over $500 for one. This example was barely spare parts grade.

Savage has been offering a new model called the Model 42. Functionally it takes on the same role as the Model 24, but aesthetically it has a Keltec feel to it. The Model 24 looks much better to my eye.

Good grief that bad!? There is no logical explanation then. My FIL used to squirrel hunt with his but he got to where he complained that it was heavier than two guns
My father had one, as well. It was definitely a bit hefty, especially for a child to tote around.

I only remember using the shotgun barrel. Using the rimfire was so difficult with that atrocious trigger. The rimfire barrel was good for a coup de grace, that's about it.

It's a cool concept, but I'd much prefer a two man team with a dedicated rifle and shotgun for small game hunting.
