Wow, I would be astounded to see two pallets worth of 30-06 at my local Walmart... I like how Walmart is barely raising their ammo prices compared to 2019! That stuff was 16ish a box in early 2020. So how is Walmart selling it for $20 and a vender is selling essentially the same thing for $80?? Greed or what?? That shows the markup is through all of the various wholesalers and distributors, NOT the manufacturers... Cause I bet Walmart buys direct from Remington for pennies on the dollar compared to most LGSs who have to deal with wholesalers, who often don't even have anything available themselves... Dad and I have not been able to get ANY factory ammo from a wholesale supplier since we started our FFL in March... We are buying stuff from GB and online retailers at an ok price and marking it up a small percent and selling it for cheaper that other vendors at the gunshows. We have a couple boxes of Fiocchi 150gr FMJ 300blk for $50 and there was a vendor across the aisle from us at the last show that was selling the EXACT SAME THING for $80?!?!

My guess is Remington committed to the Walmart order at pre-pandemic pricing. Want to do business with WM - that's the rules.

I should have snapped a picture but, I stopped at Bass Pro in Springfield, MO yesterday. That's BP's HQ store. They had chest high pallets of bulk 223, 45 acp, 9mm, and 300 black. I saw 4 pallets of Federal 223 - 1000rd boxes. Prices were ridiculously high though.

$649.99 for a 1k case of Federal:

$249.99 for a 200rd box of 300blk

Their ammo isle was stocked up as well. Where before they were down to 1 small area for ammo they are now back up to 2 isles of ammo. They are still spreading out inventory to make the shelves look full though. Had buckshot and slugs in 5rd boxes spread out to look like the isle was full. Price was $7.99 for a box of 5rds 12 gauge buck or slugs.

I find reloading tedious and buy bulk ammo instead. I shop for the best price at:

Bought a couple cases of 9mm and 223 early on in the pandemic before things went nuts. Also picked up a couple more cases here recently at ok prices. I've bought 1 gun at a gun show. That was almost 25 years ago.

For some reason bulk or value packs at Bass Pro are way over priced compared to the same quantity of ammo in standard 50 or 20 round boxes.

Mint Finn Mosins are like $800++ all day long on GB lol. $100 is a darn insult, frankly. Your friend should keep that rifle and give it a good home and use Sellier and Bellot ammo in it to treat it well. Dad and I traded a complete aftermarket Glock 17 slide assembly with suppressor height sights and threaded barrel for a mint Tula numbers matching Mosin from a guy who simply didn't want it anymore at the last gunshow we were vendors at lol.
He's got some good factory ammo for it and with iron sights he gets about 3'' groups at 100yards. He wants to handload for it with SMK but cant find Varget.
