Odd gunshop statement re:Bushmaster

I ordered a Bushy Lower last week from a local gunshop. I called today to see if it was in. I was told that Bushmaster would not be shipping till Monday due to the sunset...so that they could sell their "LEO only" marked lowers to the general public. Hmmm... if that is true, I'm not sure I want one identified as such. I can see a future time when I might have to justify the possession of the lower by serial number and manufactured from this-date to this-date kinda deal.
Ya think there is any truth to that rumour?

Then you are LEO(under the malitia act of 1903). 'Bout stinkin' time the gave us our proper weapons!!!:D :D
 
I really would like to get my hands on an LEO lower and mags. Just my own little :neener: to the Brady's.

Ben- I'm 48, so I'm probably covered by the "malitia act of 1903". They could be militia. Actually, I'm probably covered under the Mylanta act. :D
 
You think you heard something strange in a gun store?

I was in one of my favorite stores today, buying some ammo, and I asked if they could recommend a local gunsmith to thread my post-ban Bushmaster for a flash suppressor next week. I was told that this still wouldn't be legal, since ARs weren't covered in the 94 bill, but instead in the 88 bill. :banghead:

I didn't engage in an argument, but I will check elsewhere to see if there is anyone local who can turn this work around quickly.
 
I was at gunshow last weekend. One dealer had a big sign over his AR's which read "Pre Band". I talked to a poor kid a few minutes later who was carrying an AR and bragging to me about the steal he just got on it "a pre-ban for only $1100". The upper was devoid of any pre-ban features that I could see. Another dealer had a pre and post. He told me he could deal on the price of the post-ban...but not the pre-ban Bushie...it was around $1200. Uh...hmmm...no thanks.
 
By '88 bill, he's probably referring to the prohibition on import of mililtary configured rifles. ARs should be fine with a threaded barrel, since they're made in US. My understanding is that you cannot assemble, from imported parts, a rifle that is not importable. Hope somebody else knows more.

BTW, I have 7 LE mags on pre-order. Once 9/14 roles around, I hope it won't belong before they get to me.
 
You could always dremel and polish the LEO mark after the ban counldn't you? Or maybe have Bushmaster do it so they can refinish it too.

I must confess it has been fun having "restricted" firearms and magazines, but I can't wait for this stupid ban (not even a REAL ban, just a new production/import ban which only raises the price to play to keep 'em out of po folks hands) goes away! I mean, is this ban and the '86 machine gun ban anything more than just a way to keep these guns away from poor people? Talk about "two Americas."
 
Jeeez... if I get one I'll keep it and sell it for a premium to you guys! :D
Seriously, I guess it isn't a big deal...but I don't want any hassles over it ten years from now when Hillary is in her second term:barf: :barf: .
 
Can't wait!! Next week I can sell all those LE only magazines I've been stuck with!! Maybe I can sell them as collectables.

I myself just ordered a Bushmaster lower today, well it will be called in on monday, but hopefully there won't be a long wait to get it. :)
 
I have a "LEO ONLY" marked Bushmaster M4 on "layaway" at my local shop. I specifically wanted one with the LEO markings. It will help me remember the crap we put up for 10 years!:fire:
 
Since it will be completely lawfull to posess LEO/Export Only marked products in just a few hours from now, IF they ever enact another moronic "ban" they will just have to come up with another way of marking the products.

No one was going around asking to see the birth certificate of all of the millions of "banned" products already lawfully owned. I see no need for concern about how something is or is not marked.

Personally I would prefer to have some of the LEO/Export marked products since the manufacturers will stop marking them that way. It will be somewhat akin the the Ruger "200th Year of American Liberty" markings on the guns they produced in 1976. ;)
 
please guys after reading your hate for the current gun laws,and i am there with you guys,help make things right this time.we the gun owners need every vote we can get(vote republican and keep your guns)
 
This thing about everyone having LEO mags as collectors items is very upseting to me. You know why.

I just sold 20 of them to another cop 2 months ago for 15 each. I could have made a killing:banghead:

Oh well when you get them don't carry or shoot them and in five years you will make a tidy profit

Not hijacking thread, but that's on my Ruger MKI, I bought in '77. Is that a collector's item?

If anything the LE marked items give the shop a better margin - most post ban AWB LE marked gear was produced FET exempt.

to at least some extent.

I've forbidden my father from Selling his .357 (never can remember if his is a SPEED six or a SECURITY six,) that bears that marking, at least from selling it to anyone be me :D
 
I picked it up today...no LEO markings...and after you guys had me all excited and actually wanting one. But you know what? It looks like it'll work! :neener:
 
Atc1man, if you have a problem with Bushmaster over settling that case, then you don't understand much about civil law.

They were spending money out the ying yang defending themselves. If the case had ever gone to trial they would have spent much more. If they lost, which is a distinct possibility in this day and age of junk lawsuits, it would have cost even more.

They did what they had to do and cut their losses.

My next rifle will be a Bushmaster because of that lawsuit.

Some people have called this a sell-out, or said they did not stick up for our rights, but that is simply not true. They were going to be out that money one way or another.
