Only 10mm and .45acp will be considered.
I currently carry a Taurus PT1911 full sized as my EDC and its large and heavy.
I want lighter, Smaller and more concealable and have a mid range price of $600 max.
The only 3" 1911 ive liked is the Kimber CDP2 and its way too much $$$.
Id like to stay away from Taurus, For no particular reason except i already owned a PT145 and it had no character.
Id guess polymer would be my best bet for weight, but if the size is right and its a light alloy ill consider it.
Ive owned a G20 in the past and it fully impressed me with Glock and the 10mm round. I still like big and slow like the .45acp, But mid sized and screaming is good also (10mm).
When i started my ccw endeavor i bought 5 handguns and carried each to see what i liked and what carried best for me. The 1911 won me over.
I also carried 9mm and shot .40 in my converted G20. I dont want them in my carry gun. So pls don't suggest them.
So far im looking at the G29 and the Kahr PM45.
Im not sure if S&W makes an M&P that small or the SA XD sub compact.
Suggest what you want as long as its light, small and under $600 and in .45 or 10mm.
I prefer no lower priced guns like Taurus or Bersa, sorry.
Ive finally gotten past my "no safety" scares me issue when i owned my PPS9 and carried it in my back pocket with a leather outer cover i made for it. And the P238 i carried back there and sat on all day long clock and locked.
I dont think thickness can be avoided with a a .45 or 10mm, But the lighter weight and smaller overall size will make a big difference.
10mm ammo is available locally for practice at $30 for 50 or i can just order double tap as thats what ill carry anyhow.
.45 isnt much cheaper anymore, But i can always shoot my 1911 is i get the urge for high caliber shooting. But ill still practice a bit will full load 10mm loads.
