I've never had more than 4 rifles.
I own an 83 Stevens 110E K series 243 topped with a fixed 4x
An 84 Winchester 94 in 30-30, a 94 Savage 110 30-06 topped with a 2x9 and finally a Marlin 60 in 22lr.
For all my hunting needs in my state and for all 50 states my battery of rifles will get the job done. If there was one rifle I'd love to have. It'd be a Winchester model 70 in 257 Roberts. But I've bagged a lot of critters with my 4 battery setup.
From jackrabbit all the way to elk my rifles have never failed me. Won't shoot my 22 past 100yrds, my 30-30 shots are kept at 150 or less. And my 243/30-06 I don't shoot past 350. I make sure I am shooting the right bullets for the game I am hunting . There are lots of wonderful rifles and calibers out there, these are what I settled on 30 plus years ago.
Anyone have similar setups for their hunting needs

I'm in a similar situation. I have all the rifles I need for the things I do.
However that doesn't stop me from having a list of wants a mile long.
I want to get a long range setup to just have fun with.
I want a long range set up to deer hunt with.
I want a .280 AI even though it won't do a thing my .30-06 won't do.
I want a nicer .22 lr bolt gun.
I want a lot of things.

Nothing wrong with getting a gun just because you want it. "Need" has little to do with it.

22RF, 22-250, 357mag, 30-30, & 25-06 for hunting. I have a 223 bolt gun but only target with it - the barrel last awhile and its cheap to reload for.

I have only used the 357 lever rifle on deer for the last few years but have meat every year. A friend is coming by tomarrow to go hunting and I may take the 30-30 or just a handgun. I will mainly be guiding and on bear watch.

I have a bunch of other stuff but my current A-team of hunting rifles are the following.

444 marlin handi rifle
AR15 in 358 yeti (actually I just sold this to build a 375 raptor)
Tikka T3x 375 ruger
Tikka T3x 30/06
223 AR coyote rifle
Marlin Model 60

I could realistically trim this down to the 30/06 and 22 and never really be wanting, but until I have a compelling reason to do so I chose specialization over generalization.

4 rifles? Sounds okay, depending on which chambering they SHARE. (I have 6 different .223’s and only 4 of them are AR’s)
Still I suppose one could get by with
a CZ 455 or 457 .22 lr
a heavy barrel .223 bolt for varmints
an AR in .223/5.56 (because everyone should have one, preferably one for each member of the family)
and a .270 Win (or 7mm-08, or .280 Rem or .308 Win) for antelope thru elk

With four rifles you can easily cover all your needs.

I currently only have 3.
- Savage Axis 243win
- Savage Axis 308win (lefthanded)
- Weatherby MarkV ultra lightweight 7rm (lefthanded)

I haven't hunted little critters for many years, but I have a 22lr pistol that will handle varmint control if needed.

I will be adding one more rifle once I start collecting my Social Security checks... Unless I run across something that I can't live without. Or I have to scratch an itch. 🤣

I would assume that most shooters, as they age, their interests become more focused. I surely expected mine to be but the opposite has been true. My interests are more diverse now than 20yrs ago. I've always been a huge levergun fan. Never really been real big on smallbore boltguns but surely have more now than I ever expected. I surely never expected to get that .30-06 I got a couple months ago. Right now I've got nine centerfire boltguns, ranging from the .250Savage to the .416Rigby. Levers are a different story. There's nearly two dozen of them, ranging from .32-20 to .50-95.

Now that I think about it I only own 2 rifles that “I” have hunted with. I have I couple that I claimed I was going to hunt with but never have. I have some that have been hunted with but not by me. 😉

Our firearms are nothing more than tools, have you ever see a mechanic with only a hand full of tools, no they usually have a few tool boxes full. You have to have the right gun to get the job done right.

I’m similar. An old M700 with 3-9X50 in 270 Win. A Bergara Ridge with 18” barrel 308 Win with 3-9X50 and a suppressor. A Ruger 10/22 in 22LR

In theory, I’d take a shot no further than 400 yards and either centerfire is capable of that. Even the shorty 18” in 308 win. In reality, no where I hunt grants a shot over 300 and the 270 has come close to that twice. Ballistically, the 308 is capable but it’s in its first season and only killed one at around 70 yards.

The 10/22 is for rabbit, squirrel, and general plinking.

My needs are well met with these 3 rifles in terms of hunting
