Opinions on HK USP .45

I liked my HK USP .45 enough, but I LOVE my Sig 220.

As far as I'm concerned for the type pistol the Sig 220 sends the rest to their rooms with no dinner.

I have the following.......

USPc .45
USPf .45
USPf .40
HK P30

All of which are outstanding pistols! I carry the full size USPs during the winter with a jacket or large sweat shirt, because it is a large framed pistol. I carry the compact USP as my primary CCW. I have absolutely no problem concealing it using my CTAC inside the waistband holster. I rotate the P30 (9mm) into my CCW rotation every now and then, but I just love my .45s!!

I would recommend buying one!! CDNN is probably the best place to find one at a reasonable price.

By the way, the HK45 and HK45c are the supposed to be "upgrades" to the USP line. I wanted to buy the HK45, but in these times rifles and ammo come first.

I have a USP .45C and can think of nothing bad to say about them. I would consider the .45C over the full size if concealment is your desired purpose.

Edited to add. I've never had to deal with their customer service on any of my HK firearms.

I had to deal with their customer service last year and was really dreading it, all the stories from the internet really had me concerned. It was not a big deal, total there and back was 2 weeks. It took 2 calls, I forgot to leave my name the first time, they called back after the second call.

It is a large accurate and reliable gun. Mags are $$$. I have a XD 4" I like better. A much better grip and just as reliable and accurate. I think the XD is a softer shooter too.

Shot a couple of thousand rounds through my USPf .40. Great gun. I want to pick up a USP .45 too.

I looked at the full sized HK45 and it was just too big for my small hands and also larger than I care to carry. Hearing this the guy and the gun store pulled out the compact model, HK45c. It molded right into my hand and I knew right then that it was going home with me. 2000 rounds later and carried in a Sparks VMII, it is my favorite carry gun. My G19 is collecting dust. And I never thought that would ever ever happen.

why not consider the HK45 & HK45c also in addition to the HK USP variants?

Customer Service was great when I had my USP converted to the Combat Competition trigger. Turned it around in a matter of days. If you're LE they bring your stuff to the front of the line. I think all I had to do was send a picture of my comission card.

Although there are a few bad stories of H&K customer service, my experience with them was brief and pleasant. I'll second what everyone else here has said with regards to the size of the USP and the double action trigger. Although I know people who do carry a full size USP concealed I personally couldn't pull it off (I carry the compact version). The double action trigger, while not the worst trigger in world, certainly isn't as good as it could be. It is indeed heavy and kind of spongy. However, I only the single action mode so it really doesn't matter how good the D/A is.
