here is my wasr 10/63 i bought from military gun supply in fort worth about a month ago,i also have a wasr 3 ,dressed in all black (but "lil mamma" is at elk castle gun store having some work done)i will post pictures of when she gets home.....by the way i used elk castle because i bought my taurus 24/7 pro there and they were really good bunch of people, the indoor range is nice, well ventalated, and the reason i really chose the gunsmith there is at 5 different gun shows, and 3 other gun stores have said the have the best gunsmith in north texas......we will see......
but "Big Mamma" here has tapco intrafuse stock and pistolgrip(soft and grippy contoured)tapco 30 round magazine which works great and even better after i took the magazine apart and sanded the follower on all 4 sides with 800 grit sandpaper to take a little off of it because toward the end of the 30 rounds when the spring is toward the end of its compression would kinda let the follower catch and slow the feed, and then used graphite powder as as lubricant inside the magazine.....now its flawless in its movement.....it has a red laser for night time target aquisition, flashlight to see my target ,the scope wich i just put on it last week which i love ,and so far as i can tell the best $100.00 i ever spent is a UTG 6x24 50mm zero ressetable elevation and windage mil dot scope, and a quick release side mount system.......which works just as its supposed to and crystal clear, last weekend at my friends ranch we were shooting frozen cantalopes at 350 yards using handloads he had and back to 50 yards changing elevation with the dial and back down.....my other gun is a .5.56 caliber and i cant wait to try it at 500+ yards with the same optics.....i dont care what anybody says about century guns wasr models,i love mine and i also love my mosin 91/30 its shoots 1 in groups open sights(in a bench rest clamp) @100 yds i will post pics of it after i finish the restoration on her cosmetics

IMHO the scope and bipod are a bit much for that gun. I would have kept the magnification much lower, but to each their own.

lol

thanks, yea i here that alot about the scope,i do have 3 different red dot sights,a 4x 32mm utg cqb scope which are all on quick release mounts for the side, and the bipod is on quick release mount,i have it set up like this to try for distance with it,i have a bolt action 7mm mag 700 bdl for my real "i bet i can hit it from here" shootingbut i do like the idea of shooting 30 rds at something 350 yds away with a gun that is "not designed for long shots" and be able to do it.i love blasting away at things in close range and to be honest im better with open iron sights than with a reflex or red dot tube style sight at anything under 50 yards rapid firing but you are right about the bipod and scope, they are a little over whelming on it....

I like it.:D (sorta) The scope does look WAY to big for the thing, and i think a AKs look cooler with a VG, but those can get in the way of mag changes, or so i have heard. The scope shown earlier looks like it would be a better fit too.

I'm sorry to jump on the band wagon, but I say go to your CQB scope. All that's on my AK is a cheapo RedDot, and a good flashlight. I may put a 1x magnifer, on a flip mount, but I haven't decided for sure yet. I've been told that you can tune a AK to MOA @ 3-500yds, but I find Minute of Badguy justr fine.

Many people like the AK with in a scout configuration with a reflex scope. Try your red dot on the forward rail and see how you like it. With that configuration you can still take the long shots out to 400 yards and hit a man sized target but you can also do fast work up close and everything in between.

Yep, a bit much. Kind of takes the versitility out of it. You could just take the approach of getting the target in the field of view, then letting all half the magazine go, then see whats left. (Tatcial spray and pray) ;)

Wow, that's quite a scope for an AK:eek:

However I make it a habit to never tell people what to do with their own guns so if it makes you happy then that's all that matters. If you want my opinion then I would say loose the big scope and put something better suited for that style rifle on there instead.

it looks fine... but i would recommend that you remove not the scope...but the sunshade it add like 3'' more to the overall lenght of the scope, other than that...it looks great, i mean if you like it. dont let other tell you how you should have you OWN rifle,

if that's what fit you... go for it. ;)

BTW i'm sure you can hit a man-size-target at 300 yards, i do it with mine

Well, I feel much better about my AK now...

But I have since replaced the scope and mount with the standard issue receiver cover. Ignore the stock, Im in CA.

Like everyone said, whatever makes you happy, roll with it. Ignore the haters.

To each their own i think. IMHO the ak is not made to go long range.. it is a short/medium range rifle that is supposed to cover an area with lots of mostly accurate rounds. I think you should send me your scope for free so that i can put it on my ar10 like dpms .308 :)

One thing about the scope, that I'd like to remind everyone of.

Optics usually don't come cheap, and the cheap stuff usually doesn't work. Reading the original post, it sounds like this person made a very sound budget-minded decision on his optics.

Fixed power means that there's much fewer moving parts to get thrown out of whack if the scope is knocked around (this is the primary failing of budget-priced variable scopes).

He clearly intends for that scope to pull multiple duty, with different firearms as the need arises (he mentions a 5.56 weapon very clearly). A 6x is a very good all-purpose magnification for a fixed-power scope.

As for the bipod...

Well, I do enjoy all the ATAS (all-tactical-and-stuffs... when politely explained anyway) shooting techniques. Offhand, shooting while moving in competition courses, dropping to a knee, etc. etc. etc.

BUT, when I'm out in the desert by myself, wasting ammo for fun, and testing scope samples (as part of my employment)... I really don't care what weapon I'm using. I'll probably park myself in a folding chair behind the shooting bench (okay, it's a $20 folding table from Wal Mart), and put the weapon on the bench with the bipod. It's just more comfortable, and I can zero and evaluate many different sample scopes without getting too tired to do the tactical stuffs later on.

ak4lifesks, in my opinion, you have a very practical tool in that AK you have set up, and you have a very practical optic to go with it.
