In the 1st pic, why is it plugged in to the electrical outlet? ha
It's recharging the onboard GPS, cell phone and satellite TV hook up.

I think it looks pretty cool, maybe a bit of overkill, but still pretty cool. :)

Over kill sure is, but who cares? It is your gun and if you like it that is all that matters.

it is all about fun and if shooting it puts a smile on your face good for you, enjoy.

You have a good start there. All you need to do is remove all of that stuff and put the old laminated hardwood furniture back on and you've got yourself something. If you do feel the need to improve your 10/63 you may want to refinish the wood stocks, but even that's pushing it.

In all seriousness, if that's what floats your boat, then have at it. For me, anything beyond the base AK pretty much defeats the purpose. It sort of reminds me of those yutes who put those big airfoils on the back of Ford Tempos.

If you hear strange sounds in the night that will be the ghost of Mikhail Kalashnakov haunting your abode. The only way to exorcise his ghost will be to return your WASR to stock.

Since taking this photo I have added one of those Commie reddish brown plastic grips, which for me is a little over the top, and quite enough.

Great article in Combat Weapons this month on the 21st century AK. Main point was CQB, reliable and better ergo. The talked about red dots in scout config, better reliablity and shootability through buffering and brakes, and replacing the bolt with a right hand bolt. I will have to go through the article again to get all the specifics.
My main thought would be to lose all the tactical stuff. You have tried to make a benz out of a volkswagen. Take it back to it's roots and let it sing.

I'm confused by all of the "Get rid of all the tactical stuff" comments. The only tactical things I really see are the laser and light.

First start out with a base WASR 10. I'm talking about everything else.

Light, laser, bipod, collapsible stock, rail, scope and all of the black furniture.

At least if there has to be black furniture go with the Bulgarian style stuff, something that at least went on a real AK at some point.

It's an AK for heaven's sake, at best a blunt instrument, not a surgical tool. All of the bells and whistles looses sight of what the rifle is and was meant to be.

500 yards? Holy cow....

But, to each his own. I know that there is a tendency among shooters to tailor make a rifle to our own needs, or to put our mark on a weapon, but there's also such a thing as picking your battles, and in all likelihood that rifle was as good as it ever was going to be right out of the box. The best money that could be spent on that rifle would be some sandpaper, steel wool, and Watco's Danish Oil Finish, assuming you still have the original wood furniture.

yes the scope is 6 to 24 power ,i appreciate everybodys input and opinions, some of the opinions i had myself, some of them i dont agree with, but i knew i was going to get and it doesnt bother me,i like hearing them because even if i dont agree doesnt mean the opinions are wrong,i will say i think the wasr is not givin enough credit,i know some of them have production issues, but everything does...thanks

That is the attitude to have, it is your gun, and if you are satisfied with it, that is all that matters.
Mikhail Kalashnikov is not dead .....
True...didn't pick up on that, but Eugene Stoner might haunt you for buying a AK instead of a AR. :D

Yes, I think it's WAAAY much, and you're trying to turn the AK into something it's not.

That being said, it's your rifle, and your money. Enjoy it how you see fit.

Yeah, Kalasnakov is still kicking, and feisty from what I hear, but if he sees this thread he'll be six feet under in a heartbeat.

I happen to think my WASR is a fine rifle, but appreciating it for what it is as well as what it is not is equally important.

Either way, have fiun.

He even has his own vodka brand...called Kalashnikov IIRC. It has a AK on the front of the bottle. Wouldn't mind picking one up just for a conversation piece...probably tastes about like licking the inside of the gas tube though. :D There should be a more refined Scotch branded for Eugene Stoner that costs 4x as much and is smooth and hits the mark...of course it would need a forward assist button to open the bottle. ;)
