After looking for about 2 years I've finally found a Glock 30 NIB at the LGS. Not a Gl 30S of 30SF, yes the straight up Glock 30.:D

I'm looking hard at for EDC and duty.

What's your opinion on the GL 30? Good or Bad?:what:

Also any holster recommendations? :what:

I have a 30sf. It is my go to gun. I have many hundreds of rounds if not a thousand of rounds. Never had a failure of any type. I have tried several types of IWB holsters none of them work for me. The Glock is too heavy even with a good stiff gun belt. BUT I'm 66 years old slim build with bad hips. You might not have the same problem that I have.

If you can carry the Glock 30 it would make a great carry weapon. It is hard to argue with 11 rounds of 45. And that is not counting the spare magazine. :)

I have a Glock 29. (Essentially the same gun different cartridge). I love it. Its just the right size. Its a bit on the heavy side, but with a good holster and belt, its just fine.

I carried a G30 for a while. It's a great gun.
However, I consolidated my ammo purchases to 9mm. After I tried a G26, I sold the G30.

Carried the 30S for a while, good gun, good shooter.

I didn't like that with hottish ammo it tended to pinch the crap out of my pinky, and the whole short-grip/extension thing just didn't fit me well, I really wish they'd made them the same grip length as the 19/23 instead of a hybrid. Just my preference.

Also, I wasn't terribly impressed with some reports and numbers on the ballistics on the short barrel .45's with my HD Glock 21 ammo (Hornady Critical Duty) and I like to share 1 type of ammo as much as I can within caliber.

So my 30S sits in the safe and the 19 gets carried.

YMMV

I carry a 30S everyday, usually IWB. It is a bit heavy and needs a good belt to support it. I use a Wilderness Tactical belt with the kydex insert so it's nice and stiff. I think the extra width of the 30 slide would be uncomfortable, but not unbearable.

The 30 is the best carry gun so far for me.
Bianchi Professional model 100 IWB (size 12 I think?) works great. I like leather better than kydex.
I'm a small framed guy and conceal that joker in shorts & a tshirt no problem.

I carry a Gen4 30 every day. Now I'm a big guy - 6'0" and a solid 235, so smaller framed folks may not like it as well, but I hardly notice the difference between carrying it and a G19.
I shoot it well, it's never had a failure, so it works for me.

Correction:
That Bianchi Professional 100 IWB is a size 10A, not a 12, in case anybody is looking for leather for the G 30

For what it's worth, unless you are dedicated to the Gen 3 model, a Gen 4 + medium backstrap is the same as an original Gen 3 G30. A Gen 4 sans backstrap is the same as a Gen 3 SF grip. A Gen 4 + large backstrap is Sasquatch-sized grip.

The Glock 30 is one G19 baseplate shorter than a G19/23/32. I carry mine in a DeSantis Cozy Partner. It conceals very well because of the holster's forward cant. The hard part is hiding the magazine since it's very wide. The Milt Sparks IPS (IWB) or S-4C (OWB) magazine holders seem to work best.

I much prefer the Gen4 version over all other versions. The magazine release is a vast improvement. The texturing is excellent and the grip is great.

I have a 30 and have had no problems with it. Shot everything including lead bullets (I know) but clean it after shooting them. The gun stays in my night stand because I found it a little top heavy with the paddle holster that I carry it in.

One night my alarm went off in the house and I grabbed the 30 and felt very comfortable with the gun and the fire power that it has.
