Outdoorsman holster.

I just bought a Bianchi 5BHL from ebay. It is black basketweave.
Thus begins my new theme of black leather accessories.
I plan to make my next several leather accessories such as slings, holsters, belts, ammo cuffs, .....etc be black or black basketweave. Maybe that will make things a bit easier to match. (Not that it's important)

I know I will get flamed for this, I still can’t get onboard with the holsters that don’t cover the trigger guard. I realize it’s a double action and a long trigger pull. There is a a lot of ways something can’t get stuck in the trigger area. Especially with a outdoor active lifestyle.

S&W Mod 10...As you can tell by my avatar I tend to like them too. The 2" barrel is my wife's. All three are carried in Hunter holsters.

Armored Farmer. A load recommendation: 140 grain SJHP (Remington if you can find them) over 5 grains of W-231.

Yep. It appears to be a ss#.
I screwed up...I saw the ss# early on and didn't save the gun to the watch list because of it. Later I saw how cheap it was and bid a decent price if I was won it....I forgot about the ss#......guess what?! I won!
Woo-hoo! I won a good buy!....
I got the gun home.....guess what?....it's the one with the ss# scrawled on it!....oh yeah....now I remember that I was not going to bid on that one.....:uhoh:

Oh well. It shoots fine....and it was cheap....ish.
Get it Metalifed (hard chrome) and it will be better than new and last forever ! Or Cerracoat it .. . either way they will polish off the SS#

Great. 4” pencil barreled 38. I have one but way older than that. Mushroom head ejector rod, diamond skinny grips. Bought it from an elderly guy carrying it into a gun show about 20 years ago. Asked him what was in the paper bag he was carrying. “My duty gun. Won’t take less than I paid for it.”
I told him I’d give him forty bucks more than that. “How you know what I paid?” “If you got it at a store, you paid $67”.
“Nd you’ll give me forty more? You’re nuts”.
It had no finish, a few pits in the chambers and a couple chips in the grips.
I had to force $120 on him.
Kid #2 kept it on the shelf inside his front door while working in a bad part of Waukegan. It got wet, rusted some more.
Still solid. Truck gun.
Enjoy. I like K frames. Almost as much as Ls. And Rugers.
They,Smith, doesn’t recommend +P but they’re way bigger than my +P rated 442.

This is likely an unpopular choice as an "outdoorsman holster", but I like it. It has good friction retention and I like the paddle. It is lightweight and comfortable. I can carry this holster in the waistband of my sweats or bibs as well as my jeans.
It is a $20 Fobus made for the SR9C.

Check the Galco Leather site. This particular one can be used side or cross draw. Something to think about for a field holster is a good retention strap that goes behind the hammer. Nothing worse than realizing a stick caught your hammer and cocked your gun when you went through some brush.

Well I attended my first gun show since I was about 11 years old today. Small show north of Birmingham. Some nice stuff but nothing I couldn’t live without. Point being I found 2 holsters I thought might work for my model 10 and I got the pair for $5 total. I think these are going to be just the ticket.

I love it and bet it will be great gun! The etching adds character for sure.

I should also add that I like the UM84R for 4" revolvers. I use this holster while riding on my ATV and TW200. It is easy to don/doff with the belt attachment and fairly quick to draw from with some practice. Most importantly, it protects the gun from my poor riding skills, especially on the TW!

I second that! Works well with my heavy barrel S&W Model 10-6.

Excellent choices-enjoy ! The top Safariland is really quite the hot set up as it is very well stitched !

If you've gotta inscribe something on your gun to perhaps get it returned, do your drivers license ..............that SSN is useless but that DL # will show all the personal info needed by LE to get it back home. Leo for over 30 plus yrs and I recall no instance that the ssn was of value..
