Just curious as to what percentage of respondents own 2 or more of the exact same model handgun. For example, one might own a S&W442 and a S&W642. For the purposes of this poll, those would not be considered the same gun, as the model number differs.

Along similar lines, let's say someone owned 2 GP100s in .357, one of which had a 6” barrel, the other of which had a 4” barrel. In the context of this poll, these would be considered 2 different guns, as their model numbers differ (KGP-141 and KGP-161, respectively).

On the other hand, if one were to own 2 Ruger P95s, one of which was ported and carried night sights and a laser, the other of which carried non-luminous, fixed sight and no laser, this would be considered as owning 2 of the same handgun, as the model number is the same.

So, do you own 2 of the same model handgun? If Yes, why? If no, why not?

Thanks in advance.

I guess half a dozen each of P.38s, P.08s, K98s counts, per your definition... Not to mention a Colt 1911, Colt 1911a1 and a Taurus PT1911...

2 Glock 26. One for CCW, one for backup if I ever have a problem with the first. Glock 26 is also my favorite firearm.

I'd like to but I haven't yet.
Ideally, I'd have two of everything or at least of every "niche" with both guns sharing ammo.

Then you always have one to use or carry, even if the first one breaks.

I own doubles of anything I might carry. As was said, one for carry, one for backup. I also rotate them regularly, so they both get shot.

Of course not.
They're all different. This M-25 has an 8" barrel, this one has an 8" barrel also, but it's nickel!. This one is nickel, but it's a 4" barrel.
This Vaquero is stainless, and yes, this one is stainless too, but it has a different grip see? And the Blackhawk is a completely different animal all together.
So you see.....they're all different
At least that's what I tell my wife:evil:

Yes I own quite a few duplicate guns.
For instance,
3 Polish P64 9x18 pistols,
4 S&W Model 36 J Frames, 2 with three inch barrels and 2 with two inch,
a few GI M1 Carbines,
a couple M1 Garands.

Propbably the most duplicate guns I have is the Makarovs.

So, do you own 2 of the same model handgun? If Yes, why?
I suppose the reason is because I want them.:)

M2 Carbine, it does my heart good to see all those Makarovs. What great guns they are.

What is the distribution of those 15 between the possible sources (Russian, East German, Bulgarian and Chinese)?

Yes for me. My quirk is if I like something enough, I usually try to get at least two samples. one the shoot, one to keep prestine. If ever the first one fails, I've got another on hand to take its place. Sometimes, this isn't financially possible, though.

I bought 2 Norinco 213's in 1992. Awesome gun. I only shoot one, the other is a backup for when the first finally doesn't work.
I just bought another TOK, this one a Romanian from AIM. Not quite the same gun though.

Not yet, but hopefully with a little overtime in the coming months I will. I'd like to give the 4" GP-100 a 6" companion, and the the 4" XD a 5" mate.:D

You mean like a pair of Chief's Specials from 1949?

I am famous for having matching sets of handguns. In S&W revolvers I have numerous sets that include a model-marked gun and the pre-model number version. I have a few maching Colts but mostly S&Ws. Here are a couple I currently own.

A pair of 5" 1950 Targets in .44 Special.

Would a nickel 5" Model 27 and a nickel 5" Model 27-2 count as a pair?

Two Heavy Duty 38s (one pre-war and one post-war).

These even have consecutive serial numbers.

maybe I'm weird but I have 2 of all guns:

2 - Glock 22s
2 - Glock 23s
2 - Glock 27s
2 - LMT AR-15s (identical for the moment)
2- S&W 642s

It's gotten to the point that I'd hate to break the trend. I know I'm definitely going to want to get 2 of the next gun I buy just so that I'll get a kick out of it when I look in the safe.

There isn't any real reason now. It started as me wanting a backup in case the first one broke... but then it just became fun.

Four Sig P220s
Three Sig P239s
Two Sig P225s
Two Sig P226 9mms
Two Sig P228s
Two Beretta 92FS
Two CZ75s (probably getting a third tomorrow :D )

2 G19's--considering a third

2 Colt 1911's

1 Ruger 22/45----a second one will most likely be my next firearm purchase.
