I have 2 Colt Pythons. One 6" bought new in 1979, one 4" bought used in 2007. Both were made in 1978. While they are not handguns I have 2 Remington 870 Wingmasters. Both have 20" rifle sight barrels. One was made in 1972 and the other was made in 1982.

Several Makarovs.............and I aint selling anymore.

2 Taurus 455, 45acp revolvers

2 Smith & Wesson Model 14 Masterpieces

... So, do you own 2 of the same model handgun? If Yes, why? If no, why not?

Yes ... {A} because I like them and {B} because I can ... :)

Lessee ... I have multiples on 1911A1 clones, Makarovs, Star BMs, Star PDs and TT-33s ... oh yeah, and Cz-52s, but I got those as investments since they were cheap & some other folks seem to like them ... I think that's all.

So would identical Ruger Redhawks, but in different calibers or Ruger Superblackhawk Hunter Bisley models all in different calibers count?

cant bring myself to do it. last month at a gun show i tried to convince myself that the browning hi-power 9mm i wanted to buy was not the same as the fn gp-35 .40 sfs that i already have. the closest i have are a s&w 3914 and an s&w 3566. if i could find a good price on a fm detective i would buy it. guess i have problems

I have several Makarovs and at least five Nagant revolvers.

And a little off topic, I have about 50 Mosin Nagant rifles. Many are the same model, but differ in when and where they were made.

Also have a number of AK47s.

I keep an exact duplicate of my competition target pistol as well.

i don'yt currently, but now that i have everything that i need and a little of what i want in my collection than i am gonna start getting doubles, like the xd service .40 and such.

2----Ruger SS Super Black Hawks in 357

2---Ruger SS SA in 22LR/22mag

2---Beretta 92's in 9mm

To expand on my previous post

Several reasons:

Two is one--one is none.

Commomality of parts and magazines.

If it was good enough to buy the first one---its good enough for a second.

Have weeded out most platforms out of the collection and now out multiples of:

Glock 19
Colt 1911
Ruger 22/45(next purchase) & 10/22
AR15
AK47
SKS
Rem 870

Besides, there's just something about matched pairs...

Or nearly matched... like a 6" revolver on the hip and an identical but 3-4"
revolver in a crossdraw

I've been known to have a weakness for Hi Powers. I think Stephen A. Camp has the best philosophy: "a pair and a spare."

The collection has changed since the pic. I currently have 3 MkIIIs: 2 Browning marked, 1 FN marked.

Constantly looking for more, too.

I've said so before, but "any handgun worth owning is worth having two (or more) of."

I feel it apples to all guns, not just handguns. Long-guns, shotguns, etc.

I was wrong earlier. There is one gun I only have one of. A Savage Arms Mark II .22lr with a bull barrel. I'll rectify that at some point. ;)

I dont have two of the same
But I will get another M&P revolver and some Smith and wesson model 10's because they are my preferred choice of a revolver and its always good to have backup copies.
