What up.

My name is Bob and i recently purchased my first handgun.

its a lil walther P-22 (all the serial codes are the latest) with a laser.

I did some reading on the gun prior to purchasing. a few sources reccomended the CCI Mini Mags and CCI Stingers.

When i purchased it, i was trying to buy both, but the gun dude said stingers were like, "waaaay too much fo r that lil gun"

ive dropped about 400 mini mags through it with no issue.

long of the short, anybody have a P22 and use stingers?

yes, CCI mini-mags and stingers are great. you'll love the big muzzle flash of the stingers. but, they're twice the price of the mini-mags.

read up over at gundirectory.com for all i've rambled about the p22. it's a wonderful little pistol. it's got some quirks which either smooth out or takes a few minutes' work to overcome, but my favorite 22 over the other 'target' style pistols.

hit wikipedia for this pistol and scroll to the bottom to download the walther p22 bible in pdf format.

avoid thunderbolts and federal chapions, and anything with a bare lead bullet. the copper or brass plated works best, like the $12 federal bricks at walmart once the recoil spring is broken in.

Nice thanks guys.

burningsquirrels, i did and i do! read all about prior to purchasin'

twice as much huh?

whats the difference other than grain and fps?

i.e. whats bob paying for?

the stinger has a much biggerand suprising muzzle flash than the mini-mags, and is the only 22 i've seen that made a bowling pin flip over on the way down lol. i see 50 packs of stingers for 6.99, and the 100 pack of mini-mags for 7.99, but i prefer the $12, 550-count federal value pack for fun.

like i said on gundirectory, all i've done is polish the tops of the trigger bar, stretched the ejector spring, hammered on the ejector a little, and clean it regularly like any other pistol dry lube. i also removed the key safety and magazine safety, those things are lame. About 8k rounds later, i'm plenty happy with it. train your ladies, kids, and other newbs with it. wheee!

for people who don't know much, you can get away telling them it's a 32 auto instead. :neener: :D

if you're going to shoot pins, or shoot reactive steel (not knockdown steel) then the stingers would be the match ammo of choice, right behind the mini-mags. :)

P22's can be tempermental with a lot of ammos. Mine seems to like the Remington Golden Bullet bulk packs. Lead bullet with brass dusting to kinda-sorta act like a jacket. It's dirty stuff, though. Funny thing is, my P22 like to run dirty. :scrutiny:

In the P22 Bible, you'll find an entire section devoted to ammo quirkyness and it's causes, and fixes. Has to do with the firing-pin block dragging on the hammer. One of these days I'm going to do that fix on mine. For now, a good mirror finish on the block seems to help.

not sure if the newer ones have that problem? i haven't had the hammer drag thing.... and i've got tons of rounds through this thing...

when i got the pistol and the 4 clips, i made sure each had the latest serial #s.

as of tuesday i have 1,150 rounds through it, and 1 missfire.

but that was when i loaded 1 bullet in the mag...

i think it may have benn user error.

i am really fond if it.

my buddies have a sig 9mm and a glock 19 .40 cal. i like the glock, but ...

i purchased a P22 for a gun that i could taget with. cheap ammo. sexy look. big bang, and a LASER.

i like it a lot

I've fed my P22 every kind of .22LR out there and it's performed well. Stingers and Remingtons out of the 550 boxes have been run through it by the thousands. Any FTF's or jams have been ammo related... not the gun.

I had an issue with the manufacturing of the weapon, and Walther put on a new slide and fixed the wing plates on the trigger assembly (basically rebuilt it)... so "customer service" trumps "problems" every time...:D

I only use stingers when I'm carrying it for self defense, however. They're more expensive to shoot than the old, cheap stuff.
