I'd go with the G19. Now, NO gun manufacturer is perfect, not even Glock, but the Walthers I've seen have been generally less reliable than Glocks, especially after they get dirty from firing more than a couple of boxes of ammo between cleanings.

Interesting comments on P99 magazines . . . I heard that some members of the fair sex were having difficulty in getting the 16th round into the mag, so rather than just say "so just put 15 in" the powers-that-be decided to make 15 round mags instead. (Can't have "some" people having the advantage of an extra round, can we?) I won't swear this is true, but considering what bureaucratic thinking is like sometimes, and without talking to the decision makers myself, I'd have difficulty actually ruling out something this ridiculous.

I have both. I will say that the Walther P99 hasn't hit me off the head with the spent shells the way the Glock has, but both are nice guns. :uhoh: :)

I have owned 5 different Glocks including the G19. The Glocks are gone. My p99 and 1911s earned their keep.
IMHO the P99 hands better, looks classier (not necessary but a nice extra), the angled slide geometry rides more comfortably IWB. and from a safety perspective the long DA trigger, loaded chamber indicator give you a little extra allowance for human error. I know these points are arguable, but I made my decision by personal trial and evaluation. The Glock is a fine weapon. It has earned a fine rep.

I would like to suggest a diffrent gun, a Steyr M series. Like a Glock only better....and way cheaper too!!!

Of the two, I voted for the P99. I've only handled one but frankly didn't like the magazine release. I've rented/shot the G19 and it had FTFs out of 100 rounds. It definely was not well maintained but I still was disappoingted in its realiability.

As you can guess, I'm an XD-9 fan. It felt better in my hand than either the Glock or the Wather and had been 100% reliable through 650 rounds. Plus it costs less! :D

either is a good pistol.. go with the one that fits you best..

The only caveat I have is that I am learning to appreciate guns with 1 type of trigger pull (for what to me now is obvious reasons). That said you have the p99 QA and DA pistols if you do not want the TDA.

I have both and prefer the Glock 19 although the Walther is a perfectly good pistol with some additional features. The only problem with my Walther is that the inside of the trigger guard scrapes the bottom of my trigger finger when I shoot it (look at the trigger guard and try it out).

Glocks fit my hand very well. So that's what I seem to go back to. Plus mine have been reliable and accurate. But as the man said, your mileage may vary.
