When I've been approached in the past by bums wanting money for "food", I offer to buy them something to eat at the nearest fast food joint, etc. It's strange watching a starving man turn down food. (because it wasn't the "liquid food" he was wanting.) One guy had to think several minutes before he said yes, so I got him a burger, chips and a Coke. He acted disappointed as he took it. I would have thought a starving man would be grateful !
