Lefties just need to drive an English car with the steering wheel on the right side!

Or, roll down the passenger side window and shoot in that direction. I would help, however, if the threat was accommodating and in that direction.

Heck, I shoot long guns left handed and handguns right handed, so what do I know about this? <g>

I was really impressed with the penetration of the door by buckshot. At that range, it is basically a slug, and the door offers very little protection.

Tom, one of the demos that we do for tactical training is to set a target up on the other side of a car in a "peeping over the hood" position, like the target was using the vehicle for cover. Then you shoot the hood of the car in front of the target and watch as the bullets skip into the target. We do this as a graphic illustration to our officers to show them why using a car for cover is a bad idea. Kinda one step further than using the doors for cover.

In general, flat surfaces like the hood, sides and roof of an automobile = bullet magnets. We train our officers to find something more substantial for cover or to go prone and shoot around or from behind the wheels or the engine block. It might be interesting to set up the target on the other side of the car and shoot under it, too. Bullets skip off the pavement and into a target on the other side of a car very easily...

All in all, motor vehicles make better concealment than cover. Seeking cover behind one is a last resort. Great show, BTW.

I'm a lefty too, that's why I follow Clint Smith's advice and carry a second gun accessible to my right hand while driving. ;)

I love this show, especially the intro music. I wish I could get a copy of it.
