Tom,
Great show! I went out and got the channel just for the show. I've even got my wife to watch it with me. She loves it.

I've watched two episodes, my only gripe is that Clint Smith has only demonstrated open carry tactics thus far. It'd be nice to see something on how to properly draw from concealed carry. At any rate it is nice to see this on TV.

What does Clint shoot, BTW? Looks like a suppressed XD, am I correct?

Clint is shooting a .45 XD, and a Glock. He uses a lot of different pistols.

We did not video him using any suppressors.

Tom (sitting in the office at Gunsite as I type this -- been shooting the S&W M&P pistol and the M&P 15 -- AR15)

The audio is interesting.

We record in HD, which is digital.

When the audio hits a spike, it "clips." What it really does is shut off. So, instead of getting a loud sound, the clipping simply cuts off the sound.

It's weird, and it sounds strange.

Analog audio is better for shooting sounds, but the HD is very cool.

I see a headline in the near future that reads: Man Shoots TV

The first 13 shows will rerun during the next quarter, so you can catch them on The Outdoor Channel then.

And to think, you get PAID for this!

Seriously, Tom, a great series.

I've been recomending it to my CHL students.

I had not realized this channel even existed, so I just added the Outdoor Channel through Directv for $1.99 a month on channel 606. They tried to make me buy it as part of their sports package for $12/mo. but after asking for a supervisor they added it. Looking forward to watching all of these great shows I am seeing on the schedule.

Great show... my wife and I really enjoyed it.

One question though: what is up with the crunchy/screechy/metal background music? And it's not just this show, but nearly every gun show on TV --- AND all the gun commercials use the same crunchy metal music. My wife especially found it to be really annoying.

Of the shooters I know, both younger and older guys, only a small percentage would actually listen to music like that. I would strongly suggest finding a way to diversifiy the background music to include some other styles. Shooters a a diverse group of people... I think you could make the show reflect that and thereby appeal to a larger audience.

Dean:

I agree about the music. I'm working to get the volume down.

Then, I'll see about getting it changed

I'm not the producer on the show, so I have to *try* to get things done, rather than just telling people what to do. <grin>

I kinda' figured that might be the case... but I figured if you get some feedback from viewers, then you might have some leverage with the producers :)

Looking forward to your future shows.

That makes sense. At any rate, keep up the good work.

If you guys are taking suggestions, I would really like to see more on concealment. Most of the tactics involve drawing from a hip holster. I recall seeing Massad draw a J frame from his pocket and talk about it, if we could see more stuff on that it'd probably interest a few folks.

IMO, this show makes the extra $5 a month I pay for DVR worthwhile. It is shown at odd times, but DVR captures them and I can watch them when I get around to them.

Something I have noticed though. Most of the time I zip through commercials when I DVR something. For some reason I don't fast forward through the commercials on this show. Must be some kind of mind control going on. :)

I've noticed the same thing. It's the only recorded show I watch that I actually watch the commercials.

Great show guys.

Wow, the segment on silencers today was eye opening...

Now I'm even more upset by the price tag.

I repete, to think, you get paid for that!

I was a little slow catching the show. Got to watch my first one last week, it was great. My wife shoots with me but, the commercial with home invasion and the dead robber was a bit too much for her. I loved it, keep turning them out.

I'll pass along the request for a boxed set of DVDs!

We are in the middle of a transition. The parent company, Primedia, has announced a sale of the Outdoor Group. This includes a bunch of magazines (Guns & Ammo, Shooting Times, Petersen's Hunting, In-Fisherman, North American Whitetail, etc.) as well at 10 TV series (Guns & Ammo, Petersen's Hunting Adventures, Personal Defense TV, North American Whitetail, Bowhunter, etc.).

I think the end result will be good, but as you know, the transitions can be bumpy.

"As one door closes, another one opens. The hallway, however, can be hell."

PDTV is in good shape. I'm working on a segment that shows how to incorporate Claymores into the landscaping.
