Pick the WORST gun...

Whoops ... excuse me guys, just wanna slip in here and talk with Peakbagger46 for a second!

Hey Peakbagger46 ... I have to tell you that your little blurb was kinda sad because I am such a loyal Kimber person ... probably because Kimber was my first ... I know, I'm just a big softie! ;-)

Anyway, any theory on the jams from either you or Kimber? Only reason I ask is because I bought my Stainless II 5" new in the box and I NEVER had a problem with a jam or a mis-feed or anything like that and I've shot ball and hollow points through mine.

Well, I am totally bummed that you had a lack luster experience but I hope it didn't sour you on the whole Kimber line ... I REALLY think they make a GREAT pistol ... of course that could be my inexperience and youth mixed with a little naivety. :neener:;)

What I love is this:

NUMBER OF POSTS BEFORE SOMEONE FAILED TO FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES SET FORTH IN THE OP: 0

:D

Unless, of course, the Jap T94 is still in production...

Kimber ....could not make 3 shots in a row without a jam....sent it back 2 times.....same result....well maybe it could make a clip before a jam
Traded for a 4 inch GP100 ...one of the best trades I ever did.
I cant say Kimber and smile at the same time.

I don't know if they'er still in production, but the worst damn gun I've ever had was a .25 caliber barretta(is that spelled right?). It took 7rds in the clip and had one of those flip-up barrels,I originally got the thing in trade from a guy who owed me money;I shoulda just waited till he had the money. For about a month I carried it as a BUG,then the thing started jamin' every two or three shots,I tinkered with it a little bit and bought a new clip and that seemed to solve the problem. But it was too late,I ended up givin' it to my little brother for his 16th B-day;that was quite some time ago but he still has the damn thing, neither of us can hit anything more then 10ft away with it,and it still likes to jam. I've had better shoot n' toss Hi Points then that little POS.

NJ Gunowner,
It was issues with the extractor initally. I had it back to Kimber twice, the second time they also polished the feed ramp. After I got it back for the second time, I sold it because I had lost all confidence in the weapon.
I could believe your 5" is reliable. I have read (since) that the 3" versions don't always work as well because the 1911 was built to be used on a full-sized frame. I also read (and it makes sense) that Kimbers are so well (tightly) built that they jam more. This makes a lot of sense to me, just compare the American M4 with an AK. I believe the same comparison can be made from a glock type pistol to a 1911.
Sounds like yours is a keeper, hold on to it and don't let my negative experience affect your enjoyment. Also, I am a cop, so I am VERY ANAL about having guns that go bang 100%. Others may not be as picky as I am.
BTW, a lot of cops around here at the local PD cary Kimbers and seem to like them. Our department is issued Glock 22's only.
