Pick your all round pistol!

My all time favorite SHF handgun would be my 4th Gen. Glock 22. It is utterly reliable, the grip seems to be more liking to me compared to the 3rd Gen., the trigger is very predictable shot to shot, and holds 15+1 of .40 cal.

It is my sidearm everytime I hunt.
 
I will take a different approach, The FN FNP 9, Light accurate, large ammo capacity and most of all very easy and cheep to replace most parts yourself. Replacement frame rail pieces (2 each) 6 dollars ea, rear 5 dollars ea and so on.

I'd have to go with my Walther P99AS in 9mm. I can plink with it at the range, use it for home or self defense (a bit big for a CCW, but not outrageously so). As a 9mm, the recoil is manageable and (recent events notwithstanding) ammo is plentiful and cheap.

I chose the Walther over my CZ75 as the lighter, poly-framed Walther would probably be more comfortable for extended wear as a CCW piece.

The Walther has the better (for me) ergos and trigger than my CZ, or 1911s, or Taurus PT92.
 
I'd go with the M1911.

1. It's as effective for self-defense use as any pistol/cartridge combination known.
2. It's flat and easy to conceal.
3. It has among the best ergonometrics of any automatic, including an especially good trigger.
4. There are .22 Caliber conversion kits galore for it (mine is a Colt Service Ace with the floating chamber.)
5. You can buy or make effective shot-shell loads for it.
6. By simply moving to a heavy recoil spring, you can shoot .45 Super loads -- about equivallent to .41 Magnum
 
That's tough... I'm between a Glock 32 or Glock 30... Both for the same reasons... Small enough to CCW comfortably, and can shoot a multitude of different cartridge.
I would most likely go with the Glock 32 Gen 4. I carry, go to the range, and do informal competitions (same style as IDPA, but just with friends). The 32 would handle all roles well. .357 Sig is my current favorite handgun cartridge for personal defense, and it's ability to shoot .40 S&W, 9x19, and .22LR make it very desirable for me. And the biggest reason, is I just shoot the gun better than any other that I'm able to easily conceal.
 
Browning Hi Power in 9MM of course. Slim, and concealable for a full size service pistol. Accurate, and reliable with good capacity, especially with flush fit 15 round Mec Gar mags or the +2 KRD's.

My Gen 2 GLOCK 36 .45 cal with night sights.
1. reliable for home defense
2. concealable
3. powerful enough for deer.
4. Easy to strip, clean and lube.
5. Fun to shoot
6. wide range of bullets available
7. Shoots anything I feed it.
Here's my 36 and my number 2 favorite, G26 9mm.

EAA Witness full size steel (mine is 40S&W in wonder finish)

get a 38 super long slide for competition
get a 22lr for plinking
get a 10mm for carrying in the woods

also have options for 9mm and 45acp
 
CZ 75B.

I haven't found(so far) anything that comes close to it.


If i could pick a runner up? Ruger GP 100 .357
 
My Colt 1991A1 ORM, it is my main carry and one of my most reliable handguns. I've added some modest options to my liking but nothing that would effect reliability.

I just love the 1911.
 
I'm changing my answer. I'd go with my S&W 460V. I can range the power from 300 up to around 2500 ftlbs of energy, I can utilize 45 Schofield, 45 Colt, 454, and 460 magnum ammo, the 5 inch bbl balances great for me, and it will do anything I need it to from self or home defense, to hunting large animals.

The only thing it won't do is conceal well. I'm sure I could find a way though with a shoulder rig and the right coat.
 
I just went through this. I sold off everything but my g19.

I'd have kept my S&W 686, but it was a 6" model. A 4" and that would have been the gun I kept.

I am now planning to trade the g19 for either a g27 or a 29/30. I want more power with only one piece.

The g27 can fire 9mm, 40, and .357 sig with a barrel change, its concealable, with enough wallop for the woods.
 
This model 23 because I shoot it very well, it's reliable, accurate and it's right here next to me.

If only one, I would have to go with a midsize auto with a .22 LR conversion kit. The Glock 19 or something similar. Gotta have a .22.
 
My choice would be a Ruger P95 or SR9. The P95 is built like a tank and works just as well, its got a good DA/SA trigger, you have 15 in the mag and good accuracy for a defensive pistol. The SR9 is the slim and sexy cousin of the P95. If the choices are confusing, a good old 1911 style .45acp will do a good job for an "All around gun". Its Like a wife who knows how to cook and balance the pocketbook. She might not make the runway for the New York fashion week but she gets you through the good and bad times.

Well, it'll have to be a Glock19. Even though i'm not a "fanboy", it is quite the perfect balance for CC, competition, range use, accesories availability, and ammo affordability.

My other choice would be a H&K USP45 with a suppressor.
