Today at Academy, they had a LOT of 62gr greentip .223 for $95/200 rounds
Bricks of Winchester Wildcat for $25
Blaser 115 9mm for 12.99 and Federal 115 9mm for 14.99

I’ve been seeing way to much .60 per round 9mm range ammo lately. Somehow it sells but I won’t contribute to that craziness. I’m glad there’s something out there at a fair price even if it’s hard to find.

Luckily the big box stores are keeping ammo prices (when they have some) reasonable for customers

The current Herters 9mm that says made in the USA on the box is made by Winchester. It used to be made in Eastern Europe.
I was in Cabela's in KC,KS last week buying some 6.5CM ammo and the clerk told me that Winchester makes all of Herter's ammo now. I've had OK accuracy from it, but their .22LR ammo is sub-parr. It's maybe OK for kids plinking tin cans, but not for shooters dedicated to accuracy. The 6.5CM ammo was only fair at best, but the brass is good for reloading.

Starting to think Herters is not a Cabelas/Bass Pro only brand. LGS I go shooting at is selling it, just not as cheap as BPS, $70 for a box 100. I wish i knew when BPS got there trucks

Herters is Cabelas store brand. If a local gun shop is selling Herters ammo they bought it from Cabelas and are reselling it at their store for a jacked up price.

Yup. Lots of LGS are buying out the ammo deliveries at BPS and Academy and reselling them for a much higher price

I suspect that bigger operations can contract for supply, get a better price due to volume, and that small gun shops are less likely to do so as they cannot afford to invest money on stock in the back room. There may be some profiteering, but more likely an attempt to have stock to supply to those who prefer to deal with the local shop.
