Okay, folks, let's have another picture thread. Let's see all of your 7.62x51mm FAL and G3-type weapons.

DSA, FN, HK, FMP, Springfield Armory, Century, you name it!

Hope to see:

-DSA carbines
-JLD Enterprises rifles
-G3A4 types

Which of the two do you prefer, and why? I must admit, I like the way a G3 looks, and the one I handled pointed well enough, but I've never fired one.

This is my Century CETME that I have been working on since last July. It's actually a nice little rifle, and very accurate (I have already posted shots showing 3-shot groups at 80 yards that are well under 1"). Got a little more work to do to get it to be what I want, but I am getting close.

Edited to add.....I think you should go for a JLD PTR-91, I keep hearing great things about them.

Here is my humble showing. Century CETME. Fun gun. Quite accurate, like IGB's rifle. Mine is in stock trim, however.

Heres my "Congo" FAL shorty, with a 17" barrel, short combo device, SAW grip, Penguin premium buttstock, Argi fiberglass non-cut handguards, chromed bolt and bolt carrier, adjustable para-style rear sight, metric semi-only selector, mid sling mount, folding cocking handle, and extended mag release.

A real select-fire G3A4, with colapsable stock that is carried by my buddies in the Mexician Mechinized Cavlery.

Lisa with a couple of new friends, you got to love how those G3's sling

A genuine Belgian-made FAL with no import marks (I have sources, you know).

A genuine H&K 91.

An old family picture...

The L1A1(Lithgow kit) is sporting new(er) MA72 wood and laminated handguards since that picture...

I personally prefer the FAL... :D

NC - the scope on the FAL - that's a Leupold Vari-X III 1.5-5x20. Rather small objective but it does fine - seems to suit the gun well. Mount is a plain ol' B-Square.

Forgot earlier - you asked re preferences. My FAL is way better than the L1A1 - but that is not cos L1 is that bad - it's cos the FAL is so darned wonderful ! :) Superb rifle.

Glock 17

sorry don't have pic of FAL by itself.

very nice spread Pointman
trever1t your Izzy HB is a stunner!

as to which i prefer it's the FAL easy.
i would qualify that by saying i've only an aluminum springfield SAR & not a true HK or even original-style receivered clone. tho the only H&K on this rifle is the Heavy & Klunky receiver, it is 100% reliable and as or more accurate than all my FALs except the SA58. i feel the design intent is maintained enough to fairly say in comparison with a G3 type:
the FAL ergos fit me much better. i prefer the BHO feature. i prefer the location of the charging handle. i feel cleaning the FAL is far less laborious. MVHO but i think they just look better too!

This gun just never worked right all the time. Always something going funky.
I liked it, but I never loved it.

I sold the Century Sporter to get my AR10. :D

MUCH BETTER! More reliable. More accurate. MORE FUN!
I'm lovin' this one!

itgoesboom,

Who did the camo job on that rifle? I really like the way that turned out!

Mugsy

Mugsy,

I actually did that myself in my garage. Just me, and 4 cans of Krylon. :D I am planning on finishing it off with some alumahyde clear coat to protect it as well.

itgoesboom, I know you described your painting process in another thread, and I'll have to search for that.

One question, though: did you do anything to protect the internals of parts like the safety, mag release, bolt, etc., or did you just paint the whole rifle assembled?

You know, it seems that people here prefer the FAL...

... but why do most of them make theirs look like HK-91s? ;) :uhoh:

FALna45, the 5th one down on your post looks like the bastard child of a FAL and a Nazi StG.44... sweet! :) I like!
