Can anyone tell me about this Plainfield M1 year? I can’t find anything like this for information.

Yes, it definitely falls into the "paratrooper" catagory, but doesnt match either the USGI or Plainfield commercial patterns. I suspect its an aftermarket accessory.
Not sure? Would be interesting to know.
 
Beautiful gun. The little M1s are a hoot. I’m experimenting with a scout scope on one of mine.
Thanks! Purchased it from my uncle years ago. He passed this year so I’m trying to figure out what year all my stuff is to make it easier on my family if something happens to me.
 
Very cool. That one is newer. The ID number is stamped on a smooth flat surface and the collapsible stock is in the wood.
