Online petitions are worth the paper they're written on.
IIWY I wouldn't promulgate this link... people "sign", feel like they've Done Their Part, and they relax... only to never see what they wanted.
The only way to effect political change is to get out there and corral people. You need to get enough voices screaming at politicians, "Pass the laws we want, or you're gone". An online petition doesn't count... too easily forged or filled with fake info. There is no penalty for ignoring electronic communication, because maybe 1 in 10,000 participants is willing to do anything except click once.
Get people to write letters and call their representatives.
