How many of you have heard those stories of a member of a church going postal and shooting up the congregation?

I pocket carry in church for that reason, also because I dont like to leave my gun in the truck.

Let's hear what the consencus is...

I only go to church with the family on occassions such as Christmas, Easter, etc. However, when I go, I have something on me.

I do, and I'm the preacher.

I figure I have the best field of fire out of everybody (elevated, facing the rear with a sturdy pulpit to hide behind).

I don't attend church but my friends with CHL's carry in church.

A year or two ago a nut shot a lot of people in church (DFW area).
They said the guy calmly reloaded knowing that no one else was armed. I believe that woke up a lot of people.

I'll tell this story on myself (short version).
Due to some circumstances and the fact that my concealed carry gun was so comfortable, I forgot I had it on and when invited, by a friend's wife, to see my friend's kid's church school. I was carrying the gun inside the school for a little while and never realized it.
That evening when I remembered what I had done I told my friend.

His comment was, "At that time, that school was the safest school in the state".

Can't in NC as churches are off limits just like schools and post offices....I don't go any where that my gus aren't welcome......No, I don't go to bars or nightclubs either:rolleyes: .....Later,B.

I don't attend church, but if I did I would, or I wouldn't.

I don't think Church-carry is prohibited.

I don't remember the exact time frame but we couldn't carry in church until those church killings.
I hope it doesn't cost a lot of peoples lives to wake up your politicians.:(

The times i've attended temple were either in states where concealed carry was not an option for me (california) or where my Rabbi specifically asked not to carry (Arizona) so i've never carried. (There are arguments on wether it's ok or not in Judiasm during sabbath services to carry. I can go into detail if anyone's really interested.)

As i'm in Texas now, looking for a new temple, that might change.

In Texas you can carry at church unless you are orally instructed, by someone with authority, not to, or the church posts the appropriate notice.

In Georgia, you can't carry to any religious event.

So if the Virgin Mary appears on a taco in the local Mexican restaurant, do you have to immediately leave?

I carry in church when my clothing allows it. It can be hard to conceal a Glock 22 without wearing an untucked shirt or a jacket though. I really need to buy some sort of pocket pistol for church carry.

How do you interpet

18.2-283. Carrying dangerous weapon to place of religious worship.

If any person carry any gun, pistol, bowie knife, dagger or other dangerous weapon, without good and sufficient reason, to a place of worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held at such place he shall be guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor.

This is what Virginia law reads. Protecting myself, my family, and my fellow church members is good and sufficient reason to me. But, how does the Judge or police officer feel:confused: . I have not carried in church yet because the law is to broad and tooooo many gun haters out there wanting to make a big deal out of nothing.:banghead:

not a sword or spear amoung fourtythousand

I had never heard of a "member" of the church being the one to attempt murder. I had however, through the years, heard the reports of strangers coming into the church to murder.

And if my memory serves me correct, it was in churches in NC and GA ironically.

I would confer privately with the Minister, Priest, Rabbi and others, responsible before doing so.

If I received a unanimous reply that was against, I would consider worship somewhere else.

I just do not believe God would have us to be helpless sheep before wolves.

It also makes me anxious to view any encroachment of the "state" into church administration or pracitces.

Three years ago, my son came home unexpectedly from his school. (A private one, only half a block down from our home.)

"Miss so and so, the prinicpal. says there is a bat flying around in the hallway, and she sent me home to tell Dad to bring a gun for a bat to school and shoot it."

So we loaded up the Crosman and proceeded back to school...:)

Just wanted to thank GEM for the sierra mist on my keyboard :D

A friend, CHL instructor, asks when people say they think guns shouldn't be allowed in church.

If you are sitting in church and a crazed gunman opens fire, who would you want sitting beside you? Two anti gun people or two people that are carrying their concealed carry guns?

No one has ever said they would want to be seated next to kennedy, chuckie schumer or dianne feinstein.:D

Actually I wouldn't mind being next to Feinstein (in comparison to the others I mean), since she carries here in CA. Ironic, of course not. Her life is in imminent danger because she's a tremendously smart truthful politician.

I'll take the gun from her after she cries that 9mm is too much power, and the recoil hurt her wrist.
