Carry at church

Ours is a small church (400) that ministers to all walks of life. Everything from college professors and professionals to folks from addiction and rough backgrounds. A few years ago one attendee killed a couple people and was on the run. He was apprehended a few weeks later and now is in prison. It changed how people thought about church security.....

I carry a Boberg 9mm, compact and easily concealed.

Yeah, I carry at church most of the time. Evil is in the world and it doesn't check itself at the sanctuary doors.

I say most of the time because I haven't found a method of carry I'm happy with on my motorcycle yet. If I ride to church I don't carry as it stands now. Still working on that.

My normal carry is an HK P7, its compact and I shoot the best with it. I'm looking to carry my XDs too once I get enough rounds through it.

I agree with most of the replies on this one, an LCP is perfect for Sunday carry. However, its short range and the crowded services will probably lead me to the inevitable but safer result of a flying body tackle on any attacker.

Tried Smartcarry?

Tried Smartcarry?

I made a thread on it a week or two ago. I ride a sport bike (or close enough to it) so smartcarry would put a gun between my crotch and the gas tank... not comfortable at all. I'm also in a hot climate (FL) which complicates stuff.

i carry every sunday. ruger sr40c carried OWB with a ruger LCP in my front pocket. i go to a chuch with about 75-100 others. there may be one or two others that carry, but as far as i know, i am the only one.

I carried tonight to church for the first time since getting my permit in October. I've been hung up over it because it really makes me uncomfortable to have a gun on me in such a crowded environment with so many little kids around (especially the kid part of it). Just my own hangup.

I got past it tonight because for one, the night service is much less crowded and I sat in the balcony, and two, I carried my M&P 45auto with the chamber empty just to be doubly extra-sure there wouldn't be any accidents (was using a IWB holster under my belt). I know people poo-poo empty chamber carry but it gave me piece of mind at least in that environment.

Now get this: The preacher was discussing gifts and grace, and related a story how his father-in-law gifted him a Dan Wesson .357 back when he was younger!! I was really surprised that he would mention guns in his sermon (proof that we're a conservative church I guess!!)

How cool is that!! :)
