*Deep breath, here I go...*

Warning! This view is my own, probably unpopular, but sincerely held...

The poll presupposes that everyone carries to church. Here in MI, it's illegal, so the point could be considered moot...although...

When I go to church, I go because I believe in what the church teaches. If I go to pray, worship a God in whom I believe, I must also believe that He has every capability of determining what happens not only during the service, but throughout my life. I would not carry there, even if I could. Having been in situations throughout my life where I could easily have been killed, carrying arms, and not, I have no illusions that at some point I am going to die, as are we all.

I carry when I'm working, because I don't wish to die senselessly because some street guy wants a free car to turn into drug money...I guess it's being "wise as a serpent."

But all bets are off when I go to meet my creator...man's laws, my fears or concerns, the papers, the media...none of it matters there.

I know that this appears foolish, simple, deluded...but, if I'm going to get shot, I'd rather go bravely, empty-handed to my Maker...trusting that essentially, I have never been absolutely capable to preserve my own life.

My choice, I can live or die with it.

I can, as probably most of us here, certainly respect and praise your decision.....keep the faith and may God protect you and your family with his angels...........;)

another packing preacher

+1 for you guys & I know several more that do too. From big city church to country road congregations. You are welcome here w/ A Tex CHL & your weapon. Say 1911 tuner, I thank you for helping out my brother in the ministry. Primary is Kimber Compac. BUG is Kel-Tec .32 in the back pocket. Christians fired the shots heard round the world at Lexington & Concord Bridge. They were not door mats for the Red Coats & we are not either for those who want a "safe place" to do their evil. Hear the Word & be converted is our hearts desire. Shoot at the Redeemed & God will be your Judge. We will do our best to arrange a speedy trial.

Len, I highly respect your personal decision & can also say that I have no hesitation in standing before my Redeemer. Are you able to live with the possibility of you taking 2 rounds, leg, low abdoman, & living through the shooting but your parents, wife, children being the ones who die. I don't go to church alone. I love the ones I lead there. We each will live & die w/ our decisions.

I don't go to church, though if I did, I would carry there as well. However many churches in my state are posted, so it would be illegal to carry there.

I guess for me its a moot point, but it seems ridiculous to me that you can't excersise the 1st and 2nd ammendment at the same time.

Brother in Arms

I only go to church for weddings and funerals. Haven't found anybody at either event that needed killing, yet.

Carry In GOD's House-

I feel as though GOD wants me too help protect what is his, so with
this in mine I do carry a "deep cover piece" when attending church.
In too many instances, I have heard of a perp going on a church
robbing spree while services were being conducted. I think its my
duty to STOP these perp's if I can~!:) Add to that the recent rash
of church arson fires here in central Alabama; and that is all the
more reason to carry in GOD's house. I'm quite sure he doesn't
want his place of worship burned too the ground~!:uhoh: :D

From Packing.org places where concealed carry is not permitted: excerpt Assemblies and establishments where alcohol is both sold and consumed. §14-269.3 You did say North Carolina.....right :D .
For Virginia....Carrying dangerous weapon to place of religious worship while a meeting for religious purposes is being held unless you have "good and sufficient reason." There is no known definition of what a good and sufficient reason would be. Violation is a minor crime, punishible by a fine of up to $100.
Me....always...the entire outdoors is my church!

In Georgia, you can't carry to any religious event.

Virginia carry law prohibits packing in church during regular services. I'm cool with that...I watch 3-4 year old kids every Sunday. Haven't felt the need to draw down...

...yet:)

that I tuned up for him. I ask ya now...How cool izzat?

Hey, if you ever move to St. Louis, want to go to my church? :D

Anyway, I didn't mention this in my earlier post:

Sometimes caring for the flock means providing proper food and care (as best we can).

Sometimes caring for the flock means shooting the wolves.

I don't show up in church all that much, but my carraige policy only asks two questions:

A) Is it lawful?
B) Am I wearing clothes?

Although he doesn't know it, my Anglican priest has never seen me without a handgun on my person and I attend almost every Sunday morning and a lot on Wednesday evenings. I am not the only person in my Church who carries.

Jim

Of Course

I say I carry a gun in order to protect the lives of my family and myself. How would stepping into a building that people call a "church" change the reason I carry a gun?

Is there some magical force in the church building that doesn't exist elsewhere that would stop bad guys from coming in and doing harm to my family or me?

keep the faith and may God protect you and your family with his angels
His angels are pretty busy. That's why he's given many people the ability and the means to carry. ;)

You simply can't under the law in North Dakota. but in the last 15 years or so I haven't seen the need to anywhere else also.

I figure I have the best field of fire out of everybody

I expect fire and brimstone from the pulpit, but not HOT LEAD!

Now that's funny! :D

Years ago a cousin of mine attended a church in Florida that had a number of FBI agents as members. There was a coat rack in the preachers office used just to hang their carry pieces on. They must have had ready access since rarely a week went by without one or more having to leave during the services. My cousin's only comment was that it was the only church he'd ever attended where parents gave their kids handcuffs to play with to keep them quiet during the sermon.

Luke, 22 verse 36. If you have a purse, take it and buy a sword, If you do not, trade your cloak for one. (sorry, it is a sloppy quote, red letters in the king James version, the words of Christ himself.)

This is Kansas, I am not allowed to carry a concealed weapon. (NO, my keltec P32 is NOT for sale!!!!!!)

Luke, 22 verse 36. If you have a purse, take it and buy a sword, If you do not, trade your cloak for one.

Does that mean that, technically, you could argue that being unarmed is against your religion, and disarming you is a violiation of the 2nd AND 1st amendments? Also, why is it that the 1st amendment seems to be more important than the 2nd?

Or have I just totally hijacked the thread?

In the immortal words of inspector Lestrade, "As long as I have my trousers I have my hip pocket. And as long as I have my hip pocket, I have something in it."

I wear my trousers to church. :D
