Good point. I guess it depends on what gun you are talking about, if you have a Jennings then I would say, you are only looking after it until it breaks and you throw it away. If it is a nice S&W revolver, I guess you own it until you die and pass it along. If it is a gun that was made before you were born, then you are just a caretaker of it because it belongs to history.
