Post where you keep/store your firearms! *Pics only*

Being the proud owner of a virgin new XD(m) 9mm and wanting to be safe, I got a decent starter safe earlier today o give my girlfriend a sense of security and myself peace of mi nd knowing that when not in use, my firearm is stored in quiet, out of sight place. I"ll drill the safe to the floor in the near futre for extra measure.

So where do your firearms go to rest?
EDIT: You don't have to "give away" your secret locations, just show us where your toys get stored/protected.

I used to keep mine in my boat.... didn't work out so well. Now I keep them on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. ;)

Ok John we believe you :D

Freezebyte, do me a favor sit down in your front room near your front door. Now have your GF stand out side the door when you say "go" you time how long it takes her to get in and get to you Vs. how long it takes you to get to & open that safe.

Now go to your favorite movie theater (they have movies in Montana right :D ?) you start at the front door of the theater have GF start at the far end of the parking lot when you say "Go" time how long it takes her to get to you Vs. how long it takes you to get all the way home & get your gun.... I think you see where I'm going here.

At Luby's Cafeteria ( Google it), contrary to urban myth, Suzanna Gratia Hupp was NOT the only person who had a gun in her car, when George Hennard drove through the window and started killing people there were 4 others they all died because a gun in your glove box (or a safe in your closet) is worthless when the bad guy is right in front of you.

If you're serious about self defense get your permit and carry the gun. Everywhere ( in compliance W/ the law)

ETA Other than my SD weapon my guns live in a Sentinel RSC bolted to the floor in a closet in my house. I am personally armed from pants on to pants off.

I agree with Treo. You never really need your gun untill you really, really need it.

Hey there Treo and jorb:

...knowing that when not in use, my firearm is stored in quiet, out of sight place.

;)

I think the question is more in regards to the arms not currently being used and the mode in which they are stored.

Some use an RSC, some get a high-end fire resistant 100-billion-gun safe, some put there guns in the closet and some have so many they use 5-gallon pales and end up scattering firearms around the house just trying to find nooks and crannies to store them in out-of-the-way.

I respectfully decline to state which method I currently use.

He's made it clear this is his only weapon and it's purpose is self defense. A self defense weapon is never not in use.
Next.

Freezebyte,
I'm not trying to bust your chops man, I'm speaking from experience if you ever need that gun you are going to need it right now get some training and carry it daily.

One other thing I saw your video, get out of the habit of putting your finger on the trigger until you're ready to shoot.

I would say get into the habit of checking that the chamber is empty every time you pick it up but as your primary SD weapon it should NEVER be unloaded or unchambered.

I don't have a gun safe yet--poor college kid.

My carry gun is at my waist or at my bedside at all times.

My other guns are loose in my closet. The magazines for them and the bolt for my Nagant are well hidden in a closet in a different room. Thus, unless someone wants to search a pile of coats and shoes in the top corner, anything they steal is useless until they're too far away to be a threat to me.

Unless they single-shot my AK, which I'm not really worried about.

A lot of that going around lately, happened to me last month, must be the shoddy craftsmanship on these new boats...

All spots useful, one beside the bed, one in each bathroom, a couple in the living room etc etc. A gun is of no use if you can't reach it quickly. Safety is a top priority so all considerations are taken to protect family members from accidental harm. (They are locked and loaded but in safe places)

My Hd handgun is on the dresser, the other handguns are in the linen closet which i have locked, and the shotgun is under the bed, the ar and ak are in the closet.

Well, I give Freezebyte props for being a responsible new gun owner. True, a SD gun should be on you at all times but there just are times when that is not possible. What is he supposed to do if he has relatives with young children staying at his house and he wants to take a shower? Take the gun in the shower with him? Or, what if he lives in a development with a community pool and he and his girlfriend want to take a swim? Leave the gun at home in a drawer? There are way too many instances of gun owners leaving guns unsecured and having those guns stolen. That doesn't help our cause any.

Good job on getting a safe. Carry the gun whenever possible and keep it locked up whenever you're unable to carry it.

I've always wanted and felt that I needed a gun safe. I live in a fourth floor condo apartment, however. And even though the frame is cinder block, I'm a bit leery of drilling a heavy safe to my apt. floor. I wouldn' t want the safe to land on my downstairs neighbor's head and then I have to pay a lifetime lawsuit. Or am I wrong?

I put my carry gun in a flour tin on the kitchen counter, another one in the night stand. All the rest in a large safe(bolted to the floor) in the basement. I would recommend that your next safe be twice as big as you think you need. Your collection will grow..and if not, you have a fire resistant place to put your valuables/documents.

I wish I had a cabinet or safe, but I can't afford one. I keep my carry with me at all times. All my other hand guns are kept in an old combo lock box originally used for some type of electronics. Any thief could get into it, but children can't. My long guns are sprawled around, leaning in various corners. I'm currently unsatisfied with that, and plan on correcting it as soon as possible.

I purchased a stand up rifle / pistol safe at MC Sports for $260.00. It is bolted to the floor in my bedroom on my side of the bed right beside my head.

If that's his only gun, and it's purpose is self-defense, maybe he should carry it when at home. When he goes to sleep, he could put a trigger lock on it.

But if you leave the house without it, you might want to put the gun safe inside that other safe you have, for extra protection.

Unfortunately guys, I just checked and Montana law forbids ANY concealed weapon within city limits, so until I move to a different state and become comfortable with the idea of a CCW, the gun has been "downgraded" to plinking usage.

And for me, I guess im not feeling the need or the desire to really be "armed" during my waking hours, its too much mentally for me to handle. Just last night I decided to load up my magazine with ammo and slap it into the gun and I was VERY nervous that I now had a loaded gun in my hand in my own house inside the city. I don't think I can mentally handle carrying a gun into public for quit some time. I"ll leave my fate up to the good Lord's hands for the time being, served me well enough so far.

just for the record, I own no guns, nor do I possess any ammo...........and the reason I have the reloading equipment is because I like to collect it.

:D

Which Gun

Happy New Years

I keep a rifle in the corner of each entrance/exit door to my home.

I keep a SW40VE on the coffe table in the livingroom.

I keep a Star Modelo A 9mm on my night stand

I keep a Kel Tec 3PAT in my pocket at all times when I leave the house.

In my truck I keep a s&w model 64 38 revolver

In my motorcycle I keep a NAA 22 Mini Mag Revolver or S&W model 19 357 mag.

The rest are in a large safe.

Have a Blessed Day

Two main rules of gun ownership.

1) Finger always, always off the trigger until you have a target in sight and are ready to shoot/kill it. Doesn't matter if it's loaded or unloaded. Just let your finger ride the frame above the trigger.

2) Never point the muzzle at anyone at any time, ever. That goes for unloaded, partially disassembled during cleaning or whatever..

There are other rules of course but those two will keep you out of most trouble!
