Where do you keep your Home defence?

I am afraid of sleep walking (or shooting) so mine is in my pants drawer at the foot of the bed. I would have to make a concious desicion to get the pistol. I also keep the mag loaded and next to it just as another safty precation. This is untill I get a safe that I can open quickly.

I keep a Winchester 1300 12 gauge loaded with 00 buck shot on the floor beside my bed. During the day it goes back in the safe and my CCW Kimber comes out. My wife keeps a .38 Spl Colt Detective Special under her pillow at night . I keep a 3 cell Mag-Lite on my night stand. We also have an early warning system (a 3 1/2 pound Yorkie) who hears everything in our neighborhood.

Whenver I come home and take off my regular pants, and put on a pair of lounging shorts, I slip my s&w 642 in my waistband as a house gun. It gets laid down next to my bed when I go to sleep, and the 870 is kept crusier ready across the room.

Carry gun is never more than six feet from me

Shotgun is in bedroom

I am currently refinishing a M38 Mosin-Nagant. It is in pieces on a card table, There is a Hungarian M44 leaned up against the wall with a couple of stripper clips nearby. Remember the M44 has a folding bayonet. Interesting way to deal with a bad guy.

I don't own a pistol, but if I did, I'd imagine I'd just put it in the nightstand like most people.

I DO own a SAR-1, a Marlin 795SS (.22 autoloading rifle), and an 870.

The SAR-1 I keep loaded and ON my bed, with the safety off but no cartridge in the chamber (Condition 3, I believe it's called). Thus, with one pull of the charging handle, the rifle is ready to fire, but it would never fire accidentally. Hopefully any BGs/JBTs would make some kind of noise coming in (I'm a light sleeper) and this would give me time to react.
