Used my Glock 17 for this one

I'm almost embarrassed to post these...some of you guys are really good shots. I'm going to blame it on being a newbie...I've only been shooting since Sept 2006. :(

The first attachment is all SA, second attachment was DA first shot.

The third attachment was shot at 7yds instead of 15 to see how much I could tighten up the group.

Fourth attachment was with the laser grips, just for giggles.

Fun thread! :D

Sorry about the wrong targets. My printer was on the fritz. These are 3" targets. Standing two hand hold.
Try to get the approved targets for next week.

Alright, well, I managed to get back to the range for my second shooting w/ my new (first) gun, a Glock 19. This time I realized I wasn't in a hurry and I had my camera phone on me, so I just took some pics right there at the range, which seemed to work out well.

I tried different distances, two hand and single handed L & R, I'll just post the 2 handed 10 and 15 yard targets. I know it's nothing to brag about, except I didn't have any misses on my large target, but am still 'breaking in the gun' while really trying to shoot better. I was a little better than my first time out, and I'm also practicing w/ a group of IDPA guys, which I did after this paper practice the same day, so hopefully the groups will get tighter soon....

I know sometimes I'm pulling it down when I pull the trigger, some of the better shots, I remembered to pull in two stages, like pull til it gets heavy then focus aim, and pull through to fire. I noticed when I shot IDPA that most of the time I probably performed as well or better under pressure w/ more rapid fire than I did taking my time on these range shots, so I guess that's a good thing, but I'm open for suggestions...

15 meters - my range isn't marked in yards, and 15m is only one meter further
2 hands, Weaver
Usp Compact .40
First shot DA, rest SA
One breath between shots - found it's a good way to control my breathing

The left target was 8 shots, and the right was 6. One of the holes has 2 bullets through it, not easy to see. :D Excuse the quality...

Pretty sure I can do better than this. First time I've shot at this distance. :)

My turn! My turn!
First time with the M&P9c out that far, I usually do 7 yards since I sucked up until today (new trigger work by ME). These are all 10 rounds, two handed, standing, about 2 seconds between shots except for the one that says one second interval. Keep in mind that this is my first polymer compact (first polymer at all) and I've only had it for less than a month. I did this about 6 times slowly and 2 or 3 times at 1 sec intervals and picked the best of the group. None of them were terrible considering I was happy just to hit the paper at that distance.
I was VERY proud of the first one, you know, yelling and hooping and hollering at the indoor range while everyone else is trying to be real serious.

All of the flys were all my fault, I could tell without looking that they weren't dead on. I'll try the challenge 2 just as soon as I can get back to the range.

Hey, will someone repost the ultra high tech drawing that todesengal posted??? I didn't get a chance to see this and it sounds like I really missed out.

These targets looks nice - thanks. I'll be printing some out and using them at the range the next time I go. I hope 50' will be ok - that's what our indoor range is set up at and what I regularly shoot at.

Here we go, I moved some files around on Photobucket...I guess the link broke...

^This was my first round with my GP-100, standing, outdoors, at 15 yards.

3-3.gif
^My second round, I was pretty proud of, same gun, same stance.

3-1.gif
^My CZ75B in .40 S&W with Wolf FMJ's. Not too bad, although I need to work on my trigger pull.

3.gif
^And just for fun, my AK GPWASR at 20 yards, 30 rounds of wolf HP 7.62x39

All in all, I think I did alright. I will definately try harder next time, and work on my trigger pull.
Glad I could participate!

ta-da!

So I finally got around to going to the range. :) Not my best day. I worked all night and went straight to the range from work, so my shooting suffered a little. All rounds were fired two-handed single action at 15 yards from my FEG PA63 (in 9x18 Makarov) using Silver Bear 94g JHP. I was going to originally shoot with S&B 95g FMJ (my normal range ammo), but I realized during some earlier shooting that the JHP rounds make a much cleaner hole in the paper, so went with those instead. If I had the money to burn and a supplier to buy them from, I would have gone with the Hornady XTP JHP rounds - those things are such a dream to shoot in my pistol.

The first one was 10 rounds, with one flier that missed the paper.
15ydtarget1.jpg

The second one was 15 rounds: two 7-round magazines plus one in the chamber to start out with. Look, I got a bullseye!
15ydtarget2.jpg

This is the first time I've been out to the range in nearly a month (and I've only been shooting pistols for a little over two months), so perhaps I'll revisit this again soon, next time well rested and better-practiced.

Thanks a lot for that, I see now what all of the hub-bub was about. Nice work. You ever thought about going into custom portraits? Sorry, I'm not trying to hijack...again. Maybe we should start a "todesengel's range setup drawings" thread...

here is two groups shot with my new ruger p345. today was the first time i had shot it. man this thing is accurate. both groups were shot from the standing offhand, from 15yds.

the shoot n.c was shot with blaser brass 230gr fmj's 16rds in double action mode, yeah i pulled three but i got used to it, and tightened it up a little.

target1-1.gif

the orange dot is a 2" with all 8rds falling inside there with plenty of room to spare! in sa mode of course! that was the best of the day! this group was shot with blazer aluminum cased 230gr fmj btw!

Dang, Possum, that's good shooting!

Here are my results from this afternoon.

One ragged hole at 7 yrds 10 times in-a-row. then move back to 15 yrds....one ragged hole 10 times in-a-row. Then move to 25 yrds.

I like this thread. it shows what some good shooters can do with even an inexpensive tool (bersa, S&W m10) Practice, practice, practice.

Okay now I have to admit that I am sitting at the public library (wife is on home computer) and I seriously laughed out loud very hard at he first post of the drawing!!!! I even showed it to the people sitting next to me:D
That is the funniest darn thing I have seen on a gun forum in a long time!!!!

Thank you for making my day with that picture!
I may print it off and post it on my desk at work!! HAHAHA

Well, I posted last week above, went to range again this week...

Again, at 10 yards, this time 6 shots, I really can't complain for the third time out w/ this gun (my first, BTW)... Got one bullseye and 5 of the 6 are fairly tight.

At 15 yds, I shot 15 rds to body of target and 15rds to head of target, I started w/ the body, and you can see I'm fighting a tendancy both in my first post above and this one, to go a little low and left, somehow I straigtened it out a little better by the time I got to the head shots on the target... I did get one bullseye on body and almost got on on head. Maybe I can start shooting at the smaller printout targets soon!

Still trying to pinpoint it, but still, I feel good w/ it, especially at reasonable SD range.

Finally got around to doing the challenge.

First up, my "silhouette" revolver (Yes, I know there are better firearms for silhouette. I actually own quite a few. Unfortunately I have not yet been able to convince our government that I "need" the licences so for the time being the Astra is what I have).

Astra357-2H-s.jpg

"Silhouette" load is a 180 grain cast plain base bullet over whatever a .95 disk throws using S265, a local powder (about 12gr).

Astra357-RH-s.jpg

Astra357-LH-s.jpg

OK, the last one belongs in the parallel thread.

I'm left eye dominant, but my left hand is very weak (As a matter of fact the gun hit the lintel over the shooting point after every shot, there was no way for me to prevent it, too weak). Either this is a fluke or a demonstation of why cross-eye-dominance is bad?

Next up, my carry gun. I shot this single action, like the previous ones. Lesson learnt -- the trigger is way too light for single action shooting (Wolf spring kit, which was fine in the beginning, but I think the gun is only now wearing in properly). The first shot got away from me completely, the others were also very difficult to control. And I adjusted the sights up a bit after this :)

Taurus357-2H-s.jpg

For the fun of it, I also shot a few pistols.

The Llama XV is a copy of the 1911, except that the barrel is fixed (no toggle link). And it's in 22, of course.

LlamaXV-s.jpg

(Sights need setting for windage I see)

The last pistol is one a friend's mother gave me (she doesn't want to go through our relicencing rigmarole). For obvious reasons I shot this one at 5 meters.

Thanks for the idea, it was fun!
