That might be true with something like the .45ACP, 9mm, or even .38/.357… that is, transition to rifle, but not so much big revolver cartridges, which already max out at W296/H110, et al. There are always exceptions, of course.
 
This might be another place where lil gun shines. Higher velocity with lower pressure. The heat doesn't matter in a hunting situation of one maybe two shots.

It hadn’t occurred to me but, yeah, it should work just fine. Lil’Gun is another powder designed for .410 shotgun that’s been a good handgun crossover powder. Probably a good idea to retry it out considering the versatility of the powder.

I got some 14,000psi load data using slower powder. Got any BlueDot, HS-6, 3N37 or N110?
BlueDot wouldn't be my first choice as it didn't work well for 45acp till I was extremely +P. I bet HS-6 would work well, 3N37 should work good too. Don't know about N110.

As I suspected only data for H110, AA9 and 2400 data is for rurger and contender only.

Some one that has more powder than me.
I'm dumb, I would buy a keg of powder and 1 or 2 bricks of primers in the before times.
Old habits die hard. Used to believe that primers would go bad if not turned into loaded ammo. I have known better for a long time, but didn't change my ways.

You can restore your powder supply now if you desire. Powder valley has had 8s of a lot of good powders. Bite the bullet once and be done. 16lbs of tac, an 8 of varget and 4831 and your rifle days can be solved for a while. I think max is 32 lbs per order. I prioritize tac because of its usefulness and price.

That's where I'm at. If I'm right, and my testing shows some validation, I can replace that expensive IMR powders... IMR3031, 4895, and 4064... with TAC and not lose anything. TAC was $100 cheaper per 8# than IMR last time I ordered, so that would theoretically save me $300. I don't normally buy things just based on price, but TAC really delivers.
 
It appears the Winchester 94AE is capable of handling the Ruger only loads. I have loaded a near-max charge of Accurate #11FS (a flash suppressed version of 296/H110) and it pushed a 250gr XTP to 1770 FPS in my Henry Big Boy X. Their starting load for that recipe should get you closer to 1500.

Is that loading beyond standard Sammi limits for 45c in print from winchester, or are we doing it because one hasn't blown up yet? I was wondering where the magnum powder selection was coming from and now I understand. I have a henry and I'm not doing it until I see print.

Yeah, sadly, you will likely never see it in print from the manufacturer. Winchester used to tell you if you called support that you could load their 94AE in 45 Colt to 44 Mag pressures (they did me 15 or 20 years ago or so), but I don't think they will anymore. Henry wouldn't answer the question at all, even though I can tell you the Henry X in 45 Colt and 44 Mag are identical guns, and the Henry easily handles ruger only loads...but why would you take me for my word? It's your gun, you accept or reject the risk on your terms, not because "some guy on the internet" said it was ok. I mean, we all know the "rules" for Tier Loads, but it's up to each individual to decide if they want to pursue it. Never forget, today Keith would have been kicked off THR for the loads he shared...

I am very fortunate to have received an inventory of rifles I can put into action for different tasks. I won't try and make a 357 do what a 30-30 does better. If I need more range change to 308. I don't have anything more capable at range than that so I've been eyeballing a 280. 45c is a gun remade for cowboy action shooting for fun. It's not a modern capable cartridge like a 454 casual. I really want a big horn but I don't have one. The knowledge of one's firearm to exceed listed listed loads is kinda a gate keeper to prevent the unknowledgeable on the reservation. If you talked to winchester about your gun I would never question your actions. Did the op talk to winchester about his model of gun and were any changes made that could effect it, I have no idea. Point being I don't intentionally challenge people to push boundaries and if they are I think they should be doing it based on information they have.

If I really want a .45 lever gun for past 100yds and with big knockdown I will break out the Marlin 95 .45-70. If I want a 250yd “38” I bring out the .35 Whelen. If I want more than a .35Rem but not quite the Whelen then the BLR in .358 Win is a good choice.
But pushing a gun that can’t be replaced? Nah.

I generally agree with you....and for the most part my loading for 45 Colt is in the opposite direction, because subsonic Suppressed 45 Colt out of a repeater is an amazingly fun tool, and a helluva a coyote slayer...but that said......as a first hunting gun for a kid, or as a light brush gun, it is really hard to beat the Win 94AE in 45 Colt. It's light, easy to carry, more than sufficient knock down, and you can start the kids on cowboy loads and they will gain confidence as they shoot. It was a lot of fun working with my kids, over time they both worked up to 1500 fps 250 grain bullets without even noticing it, lol. Many white tail and elk fell to those guns out to 100 yards. If I had started them with a 45-70, they would probably never have picked up a gun again!
