Local gun shop has a Glenfield 30a in .30-30 on the used rack that I'm looking at. It's got a 20 inch barrel with the short magazine tube. Externally, the rifle has seen better days. Blueing is mostly gone and the metal is scratched up, but no rust or putting. The wood is dinged up, but no cracks or oil stains that I could see. The crown looks good, and the action is smooth. It's got an old cheap scope mounted on it that can't be worth much. My over all impression is that it's a solid rifle that's been hunted with a lot. The shop is asking $350 for it on consignment.
My plans for the rifle would be to have the barrel cut to 16.5 inches, Skinner sights, and cold blue the rifle. It would be a beater lightweight brush gun where shots would be less than 100 yards. Sort of a guide gun in .30-30. What would be a fair price for it?
