Howdy, I was at my local wally world today and felt I needed to buy some .22 LR ammo, as I was getting a bit low from all the indoor shooting I did over the long winter. Anyway I noticed the prices had gone up on the Federal 550 rd. boxes, as they used to be $15.97 and now they are $18.97:what: I also noticed a bit smaller sized version of a Federal bulk box of 375 rds for $11.47, this got me thinking to which was a better value. I did a little thinking and figured the 375 rd box gave more bang for the buck, if I did my math right. I figure you pay $3.45 per 100 ct for the 550 rd box and $3.06 per 100 ct for the 375 rd box. I always thought buying in larger quanities of the same product would mean lower cost, but this is not the case. LM

What state are you located in? Here in Tx. the 550 Federal at Wally World is still $15.47...............

Localy, in Orygun, 2500 rounds of 22LR off the shelf at Bi-Mart is $85.50.Thats the cheapest I can find, even mail order is more expensive.

The Federal went up to $18.97 here a couple months ago as well. Luckily, all of it I bought was at the old price. The Winchester 333's have stayed the same price. I bought a bunch of the RWS 9mm at the old (higher) price so I guess it all evened out though.

I have noticed .22LR is getting much harder to find here in SA, especially the Mini Mags I need for my Mosquito. The price has stayed the same, though; $6.47/100 @ wally world.

Walmarts raised their prices on .22LR months ago here. We have 17 W/M within a 20 mile radius of us so I have a lot to check. I was fortunate to find stores that did not change the price marked on the shelves so they sold them to me at the lower price.

Now they are all marked $18.97 for the big bulk boxes, except Winchester which is $19 something.

Farm & Fleet stores have been slowly raising their prices also but at least they have sales all the time.

Mini-Mags here are very hard to find. I buy any I see.
Winchester X are also not very common to find sitting on a shelf.

Cabelas has plenty but you pay a buck or so more per box.

We shoot 800+ rounds each trip to the range, sometimes more/never less, so I watch for deals on .22R ammo.

$18.97 for my Federal bulks too in Illinois. Plenty on the shelves. Also sell the MiniMags for $8.97, but they go for $10.97 at another Walmart that's about 10 miles away.
