What would a Remington Rand 1911 in near-perfect condition go for? The serial number puts the manufacturing date at about June, 1945. This pistol seriously makes me drool.

Thanks,
Daniel

It seems to me that in the condition you describe, this pistol could go for near or at $1000 for the collector value alone. But, it depends upon the condition and any accessories. An original mag (mags) and the box would jack the price up quite a bit.

$1100 is about the top end for a truly mint R-R. However, it's important to be abe to tell if the finish is original or not. If refinished the value is nearly half that figure. You can check out my website for some good info on evaluating these pistols.

dsk...

You have what looks to be a very informative site. I will be interested to see what you put in the Remington-Rand section. I had a 1943 R-R which my first wife asked for in the divorce. I wish now that I had said no. IIRC correctly I paid about $300 over 25 years ago. The pistol and finish were in good shape but the barrel (don't know if it was original) developed a bulge and I had to replace it.

Pricing an older firearm seems to be a very contentious and subjective area, especially as they get a bit rarer. The problem is, there always seems to be someone who will pay a high price.
