I was at the local Academy Sports the other day and their primer section was full! Large rifle, Small rifle, Large pistol and Small pistol all in stock. Not a good price $8.90ish a flat. But nice to see them in stock for a change.

Local Scheels had shelves full of primers this weekend. I only grabbed some Remington SPP, but it looked like they had a full variety of brands and sizes. Maybe prices fall to something reasonable once retailers run out of storage space.

At my local academy CCI-500 sleaves were $7.99 two weeks ago, up to $8.99 last week. But, that is without shipping or hazmat.

De Moines, Overland Park and Academy's near me is a large rifle primer desert. Had my hopes up so excellent for others

Our local Academy Sports and Sportsman's Warehouse are both asking top dollar for their primers. $90.00 a thousand and up. 6 months ago I was paying 45.10/k of the Rem 1 1/2s.
Power Pistol is $46.00/lb, even Win 244 is now $46.00/lb. Vihtavuori is only $6.00/lb more than the old legacy powders.

I also noticed the bottles on the shelf aren't moving. I know I'm not buying any, I won't pay those prices. Their factory ammo is on sale for really high prices also.

I have lots of primers, just bought10k of Unis Guinex $69,00/k and I'm very happy with them so far. I had to wait for a sale, then Fed X lost them, I finally got the dang things two weeks after I ordered them, they were two day shipping, and they were lost 10 miles from my house at the local hub. :fire:

When they finally delivered them, I was supposed to sign for them, our door bell camera caught the Fed X lady throwing them on the front porch and running back to her truck and leaving. What an outfit!

What's the opposite of a porch pirate? A porch dumper?

Brownells has a free hazmat deal going on this week for powder and primers. They have a bit in stock.

We have 2 Academy stores in our area. Pre-Covid, both carried reloading supplies. But during Covid, the one closest to me stopped doing that. Only the one 45 minutes away carries reloading stuff now. It's not worth the drive though. I'd have to drive 25 minutes past our local BassPro store, and they have been well stocked for some time now (except LRP's, of course).

Our Fed X is very poor around here. I always expect trouble when they are delivering packages. We went through a spell where peoples packages were disappearing at our local hub. The employees were stealing them and selling the contents.
It got bad enough the local newspaper got involved and then some Government Agency started threatening and FedX issued a statement that they were going to clean up this hub.

Porch Dumpers and Hub pirates.

Three of the last four packages I ordered that came Fed X and were late. They must actually think it's ok to take 5-10 days when someone pays for a 2 day delivery. In some cases, I can choose a different carrier and I do exactly that but sometimes I have no choice.

I think it’s very on-topic for those of us who don’t have much choice but to order online and suffer through FedEx delivery or drive hundreds of miles on the off chance a brick-n-mortar store might have what we need. My nearest Academy is in Daytona. That’s on the Atlantic Coast. I live on the Gulf Coast. In between is traffic, unmaintained roads, and a big gas bill. It’s topical, believe me!

I'm pretty much in the same boat...Cabelas is 30ish miles, Academy is 100ish, travelling carnival/gun show every couple of months, so it's online primarily.

But, I didn't realize the problems folks had with the big commercial carriers. Our problems are with those "last mile" partnerships with the post office carriers. I honestly believe my stuff gets "misdelivered" intentionally so my neighbors know my business.
