Primers preorder...

Yamaha, which we can all conclude is a large company, have in the past required a preorder for the initial FJR1300 and then again for the Tenere 700.
I know it wasn't a full price preorder, rather just a deposit.
But why would such a large company need any funds up front?
The 1st thread is proof that "somebody" took the gamble by providing these to the consumer, then when they disappeared I'd be willing to bet that it's because the original supply chain got their act together and started making primers available again.
At the very least I'm hoping that the non-traditional route we are taking here will shake some of those suppliers out of their deep slumber or perhaps it's a self-inflicted myopia?

I’m not telling you something you don’t know, but deposits for preorders separate wheat from chaff. Commonplace for automobiles for decades and decades. It’s even more common today than in the pre-Internet days when it was a hassle to actually send paper mail to get on a list. (Deposits common, but full payment I don’t know)

As someone else said earlier, this isn’t some big secret and we know other small fry are getting into this game, aka, trifusion, so maybe the other bigger fish actually have experience with trying to deal with Bosnian arms dealers and don’t like it?

I checked the font of all knowledge, Wikipedia, and Seattle Washington has a Little Bosnia area. Wonder why someone there hasn’t thought of this? @Mark_Mark check it out next time you’re in the area:)

I just bought a stove for my wife from the most highly respected appliance retailer in my fairly big city. The guys that if you ask any longtime resident where you should get a stove/refrigerator/dryer/etc, they say _____ without missing a beat.

I had to pay for the whole thing up front before they’d order it in. 5 grand. That hurt. And it’s a stove they regularly retail, not something so exotic they had to do something special.

Pretty sure that’s becoming the “new normal” in the instant-gratification Amazon world. I love the gentlemanly way many of the established suppliers (like Midway) don’t charge the card till they ship. But in my experience it’s less common today than it used to be.

like I said on a earlier post. We have a huge expat community from the com blocks. They are big time 2A supporters and gun shop owners

I’d have to take my business elsewhere, seriously.

I’ve “bought” several houses for a few hundred $ “earnest” money, numerous cars for about the same deposit, and a new $10k home furnace and a/c for NO deposit.

I just don’t like the pay in advance business model.

Btw, these purchases are over an adult lifetime, not all at once.

Hold on...if there never was any lead, how’d the forum members get their lead for the first few months?

Where in north Florida was this, what forum, what year? Certainly someone reported this to the authorities. What happened from the resulting investigation? Don’t leave us hanging. Don’t need joes last name, I’ll find it easy enough with the other information.

So you are calling BS on me? What a moron. Yup my motivation was to keep all the primers for myself or maybe **** on your parade.

I was just try to help you guys think. What a f$%^ing mistake on my part.

I could call BS on you pumping this crap up. I think you should look at the replies from the low volume posters. Funny this was the first posts they replied to repeatedly.

I really hope this all works out for ya.

Case was the moderator at the time, CurleyN after Case left.
Year was about 2004.
Sure authorities were notified but it was a scam and no one was found.
Scammer provided pictures of a supposed range in N Florida range that actually existed.
Members in the area checked out the range and no one had any idea what they were talking about.

Last post ever. So long
