With that amount of practice each week ( ) , how do you keep up with the reloading? Is that on a 550 dillion or something? When reloading in bulk like that, what is your price per shot? One last question, do you have a bullet mold that allows you to do multiple bullets at a time?
Thanks
Ss

Nope. Two single-stage presses...One for seating only. When I get free wheelweights, buy primers and powder in bulk, (24 pounds/35,000) and
retail for the solder, the cost runs to about 35 dollars a thousand rounds.
If I gotta pay for the weights...half a sawbuck for a 5-gallon bucket...it bumps that up another 3 dollars a thousand.

A pair of Lyman 4-cavity gang moulds in .45 caliber (225 RN) and sometimes a two-cavity 357/155 gets invited to the same party.
With the pair of .45 moulds, I can cut 500-600 bullets an hour for about 4 hours before I gotta take a break.

I have five 45ACP's.

I would say I easily shoot 12000 rounds of 200gr LSWC a year.
I would say I easliy shoot 6000 rounds of 230gr FMJ a year.

I know I shoot close to 10K of 22LR in handguns and the 10.22 and the only factory ammo I shoot!

I have no clue as to the amt. of 223 I use. I have to say well over 3K of various ammo.

The 308 probably gets fed 1500 rounds a year.

As winter sets the indoor use goes up! :neener:

I try to make a trip to the range at least once a week. Sometimes I get there 2 times in a week. Sometimes not at all

When I shoot 9mm I probably go through 150 to 200 rounds.

When I shoot .45 I go through 50 to 100 rounds.

When I shoot my revolvers (.38/357) 100 rounds or so; whatever I've managed to reload.

When I shoot .44 mag, well, 25 or 50, depending on how long my hands hold out.

For what it's worth, I've now been shooting for close to 4 years. Consistent practice has proven quite valuable and I've seen a great deal of improvement in my shotting skills and comfort level with various guns and calibers.

Lets see, these days about 100-150 .40 S&w per session and somewhere around 120-200 5.56. These days I make it out about once a week.

Trying to be frugal

I am trying to cut back my ammo consumption to 150 rnds of 22 LR, 60 rnds of centerfire handgun and rifle per trip...since I drive past the range coming back from work everyday. Yep, I can go to the range everyday.:D

A lot of "leading" that people complain about ain't really lead at all. It's crud from crappy bullet lube.
Cheap, fecal quality bullet lube, combined with a relatively dirty powder such as Unique will leave a layer of crud in your bore that is just as difficult to remove as lead.
Combine this with poorly alloyed and/or poorly produced bullets and you'll end up with tennis elbow from cleaning.

Good bullet alloy, proper sizing and good lube will yield lead bullets that are a joy to shoot and not a chore to clean up afterwards.

I belong to a club with an outdoor range and go about twice per week weather permitting. I'll usually go through:

100 rnds .22 LR
50 rnds .38 spl
50 rnds .45 ACP

About once/month I'll also shoot a box of .380 or .30 Carbine (from a Blackhawk).

Also about once per month I'll bring a rifle or two and shoot some 7.62x39, .223, .30-06, or .45-70. I also shoot trap every couple of weeks.

I usually practice once a week on an indoor range. I usually shoot about twenty rounds of my .45 ACP carry load and a couple of hundred of .22 LR (usually Winchester Dyna-Point). If I shoot more than once a week, I break out a 9x19 1911 and shoot about 100 rounds through it. I then return to the .22 LR for the rest of the range session. If my wife comes to the range with me, I usually shoot a few .38 Specials as well.

When I am on vacation (like the week between Christmas and New Year's Day), I have been known to shoot all day, every day. That is the exception, rather than the rule, due to the sheer cost of that much shooting.

About twice a Month
100-150 in 223
100 each in 45 & 9mm
a bunch of 22

Before getting stuck in the Iraqi sand box again...

Tuesday night is ladys night, go with or w/o the wife

100 rounds 22lr with the conversion kit on the 9mm
100 rounds 9mm
50-100 rounds of .45

usally ended up on one of the base ranges on the weekend with the wife

50-100 9mm
50-100 45
50-200 5.56mm

:uhoh: don't do much shooting at all, compared to some

2-3 times every 3 months..
250 rounds/gun .22lr, 9mm and .40 cci blazer
100 rounds/gun .45lc, .44spl black hills and cci blazer
200 rounds/gun .357 sig, 10mm winchester wb, cci blazer

i usually take two guns per range session.

In the off season, or when taking a break, I won't even touch a pistol for a couple of months or more. During the shooting season (4-5 months), I shoot 5-7 times per week live fire with 200-300 rounds per session, and I dry fire twice a day for 30-40 minutes per session. The rest of the year I dry fire daily but make it to the range in spurts depending on the weather. The quantity of ammunition expended is not as important as the quality of practice.
