I'm looking for some new grips for my PT1911, and I'm new to 1911's so I figured I'd ask before I potentially waste money:

the grips I want would be for a 1911 Government model, correct? Also, I know I need to have them cut for the ambi-safety, do I need them for an extended mag well as well?

Midway USA has 29 pages of hadgun grips. I bet they'd have what you're looking for and would probably have someone there who could help you pick out a set.

Yeah, I've picked out what I want (it's a coin toss between Coco Bolo and Rosewood, I've seen them both in person and love them both) from the catalog. I just want to get my ducks in a row before calling them.

Actually a "Government" or a "Commander" use the same grips.

I like Midway for a starting point. You then know if the "other' price is within reason or totally out of line. :D
