well, sorry to dredge up an old post but i figured i should prbly finish what i started. i didnt get to go shopping as soon as i figured (due to my wedding...what a headache...lol). anyway, i ended up getting a hi-power from my dad/grandpa, so i decided to buy the beretta 92 w/ my share of the gift money. me and my new wife took the long trip to omaha today to pick up my gift...and much to my suprise we ended up bringing another 9mm home w/ us. i was looking at an xd, when my usually pretty shy woman asked to see a pistol in the case (at cabellas). i wais pretty amazed that she piped up like that. the guy behind the counter (who ironically said he had never shot a handgun before) handed her a taurus 24/7 pro, and she pretty much fell in love w/ it there. "I'm getting this" was all that it took. and i was just fine w/ that. if fits both of our hands well and was less then $400. at first i really wasnt very impressed, it seems kind of cheap (namely when the safety is engaged), but turned out to be a great buy. 17 rounds of 9mm in a really ergonomic grip. we took it out today and fired 400 or so rounds thu it and i was pretty impressed. not amazingly accurate, but plenty so for what we were doing w/ it. trigger isnt great, but servicable. really like the dimples on the frame too, good reminder of where to keep the fingers. and that single action that resorts back to double, works like a charm. very first shot (cci blazer brass) ftf, pulled the trigger again and boom. 9 out of 50 did that (in 2 different pistols). other then that it ate pretty much everything we could find to feed it (including some mis-matched ammo that was my great grandfathers, pbly purchased in the late 60's or early 70's). i must say that even tho i am happy w/ the hi-power and my un-fired 92, im very, very impressed w/ the 24/7. a good pistol for the price.
