Finally landed on what I want and picked out a Winchester Model 70 Classic Stainless with a synthetic stock in .338 win mag. Only problem is that the .338's are very hard to locate - in fact I cannot find one.

I did locate one in 7mm which I have been told is the same action and only requires a new barrel... so a Pac Nor has been recommended. I am thinking a #6 ss super match.

Anyone out there done something similar with a M 70?

Any experience with Pac Nor?

Thanks

I have a Model 70 that was rebarreled, trued and chambered to 338 Win Mag by Montana Rifleman. It had been 300 H&H. They provided relatively short delivery dates and were a couple hundred less than some of the others, and work in either S/S or CM. Rifle is still being smithed and stocked so can't comment on how it might shoot. I have another barrel due in any day from them for a 98 Mauser. No direct experience with Pac Nor.
