I think The Complete Book Of Combat Handgunning (Chuck Taylor) and Combat Handgunnery 6th Editition (Mas Ayoob) are a worthy starting point.
I also think that the paladin press DVD's from Kelly McCann (aka Jim Grover) are phenomenal tools. Not everyone who writes a book or makes a video or has a "class" or "training seminar" is worth a hooey.
One of the things I like about Kelly McCann is that his method lends itself to self instruction and with the economy going further and further south, it is nice to be able to save some money, but stay on the ball and even improve.
As far as trying to clarify your mindset, I would recommend:
Living the Martial Way : A Manual for the Way a Modern Warrior Should Think by Forrest E. Morgan
There are others that should be read, but that is one of the best of them.
