I have had a cheap 4x scope on my norinco sks for ~ 12years with no problems. The scope is mounted on the reciever and it has never lost zero! I think I am the only person here who has had good luck with a reciever mount I think my good luck comes from the SUPER tight fit of the mount to lower reciever plus the recoil buffer I made out of some vibration dampener material from a former employer
Yesterday I wanted to shoot my SKS and looked through it and it was suprised to see a crack in the lens. No big deal, 10 years and ~3000 rounds for a $30 scope...I got my moneys worth. Now I'm thinking red dot.
This is an SKS...not an AR, I dont want to spend $400-800 on an aimpoint or Eotech. I want to keep the cost as close to $100 as possible. I found a truglo 30mm red dot locally for $35 OTD. the truglos seem to get decent reviews for inexpensive red dots. I am also thinking of:
